or up to 75 lb bikes with 47 lb rack weight (Super duty version)
One of the lighter racks. Very compact.

Drop hitch clears ok. (They sell this on their website as well).

Great info thx. It looks like they work well for clearance with the right adapters except all of these will block the camera when folded and then with bikes as well.

Unless you get a roof rack anything on the back (spare or hitch) will block the camera. Other than backing out of the trailhead/parking lot I won't be using the camera when going biking so it's not that big of a deal to me.

Dude, very thorough! Very nice. Thanks. Have to say aesthetically there is no comparison. The Kuat looks so much better. Just my opinion of course...

We use a thule and will probably keep with that. If its like the current SUV, it will beep warning you not to back over the rack untilmyounswitch back to forward. It would look at the bikes regardless of mounting position most likely.

Hmmm...brainstorm they should make an aftermarket connector for the trailer hitch electrical...assuming the jeep shunts the backup when you connect a trailer! Pop it on if you really want the backup muted. Ours you can shut off holding the backip button in I think.

I have a Thule swing out model now on my JKU Sahara Altitude, however it barely clears my stock tires. I'm looking into getting a hitch extension for the JLU, but otherwise I like the Thule and the integrated lock. I accept that the backup camera will be blocked though, just don't want to buy another bike rack right now.

Great find. Leaves no doubt that 1up is the way to go. Hate that i much prefer the appearance of Kuat and Yakima! I leave it on a lot so that matters to me. Shit! lol
I feel the same. I'm about the pull the trigger on the 1upUSA. My issue with Kuat were the reports of instability with the add on (for 4 bikes), and the longevity + needing the drop hitch. I suppose function over looks wins out this time. The black version of the 1Up still looks pretty sleek tho.

have had the küat for years and still love it. i’m in middle of moving, and wasnt even annoyed at dismantling & packing that beast up, i like it so much. the repair stand thing is great, used it all the time. mine doesn’t wobble but it’s the 2 bike version, not 4...

Be aware you cannot use the Kuat with Fat Bikes.

I'm using a Kuat with my Fat bike. Mind you, I did have to buy a cheap little strap to fit over the rear wheel but it's fine otherwise.

I've used my Kuat for a few years and I regularly drive between Toronto and the Rockies (almost 4000km each way) so I can attest to their durability and reliability.

With that being said, you can't go wrong with the One Up. I just couldn't justify the price after shipping and conversion from USD.

Any hitch mounted rack should work. Might have to get an extended to be able to fold it up to get past the spare tire.

I have one on my GC year round, blocks the camera a bit but who cares. I don’t NEED it to go in reverse you can still see plenty. And you hit the button to turn off the sensors so it doesn’t beep the whole time you’re in reverse.

I had a VersaHitch from Quadratec with the bike rack that used the outer, smaller recievers on my JK. It would obviously block some of the camera, but fairly unobstructed compared to some rack options. That is if the VersaHitch was compatible with the JL or Quadratec developed another like it for the JL.

I have a Yakima fold down 4 bike rack. Have had it for years. Its impossible to tilt down to access tailgate (Explorer/Flex) when loaded with bikes. I always wanted to upgrade the swing arm version, but then I would have 2 racks. :) From this thread, I learned about Kuat, I might add this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0786QDWKH when I get a new jeep. I am wondering if adding this would get the Yakima bike rack away from the tire, and then also solve my tailgate access issues.
Won't make any moves until I have a Jeep in hand though. :)
