Hello everyone. I grew up traveling the US and Canadia with my Dad, who was a long distance truck driver. My Jeep was bought to remember my Dad and its build will have influences from my Dad. On the road my Dad always ran Cobra CB’s and K40 antennas. His semi had some crazy long range capabilities too! Since he has passed away I can’t ask him the specifics of his set ups. I just remember the CB and antennas. Can any of you share the specifics of your long range set ups? Thank you!

If you want to get out you need to find an independent shop , talk to them, they will advise, and get them to trust you. I ran a Galaxy radio with 800 channels and a built in 40 watt amp pushing either a 1K watt Messenger amp or my old 750 watt Falcon tube amp. Not exactly FCC approved (or available at Walmart etc) but available from independents as truckers knew. Can’t advise on current available antennas, mine had oil cooled in glass windings to fragile for a Jeep. But get the tip above the roof to use it as a ground plane and take the time to properly adjust the SWR, not close to buildings or vehicles and with the doors closed.
