Berdoo road in JT

Wondering if this is a good day trip type trail?

Oof yeah it's gonna be hot. Just make sure you have some way of making a phone call if things go wrong (Garmin or some other satellite phone).

I've only done Berdoo from the national park side but if you are in Palm Springs I think you'd go from the Berdoo Canyon side and end up inside JTNP. When I ran Berdoo I did it in a day and that include the 2.5 hours drive from LA, ran the trail, then 2.5 hours back home.

Prob would do it and out and back since we will be staying not too far from the PS trailhead.

It's easy enough and a pretty good day trip trail (2 hours maybe on Berdoo), with JTNP being the payoff at the end. You will catch Berdoo off Dillon Road, we stayed at the KOA there one year and decided to take Berdoo into the park. Be cautious though, that heat is no joke....

I live out in the area. Berdoo is a fun little short trail. If I were going to run it and staying in Palm Springs, I would go in off Dillon road, follow Berdoo into the park where it meets up with Geology Tour Rd, then carry Park Blvd (paved) out the West entrance to Joshua Tree (the town) and Hwy 62 back down into Palm Springs.

It's definitely going to be hot, so if you aren't used to it, bring plenty of water. Double however much water you think you should bring

Last trip didnt get to go on this one. Prob hitting JT park on friday , wondering how the trail conditions are if anyone has been up there recently. may try to exit the park via berdoo as we are staying in indio.

How crazy hot was it? I'm going camping in JT on Monday and I imagine I'm only going to being hiking super early morning and then just hanging in the shade the rest of the time.

It definitely cooled off. It was in the low 70s during the day and mid 50s at night. Perfect JT weather.
