If you can find someone to hardness check that, it would be beneficial to the forum. Rockwell C scale is universal. I would expect that to need to be at least mid 30s RC and not surprised if the 40s RC was common in such a part.

Better to bend and still limp home than to break and screw you. Glad to see it all worked out, and the company is taking care of you as well.

Mechanical engineering test. Hardness tests are useful to determine how likely something is deform rather than breaking. There's a fine balance between bending too easy, and not breaking when stressed.
