Hello,
Sorry,...I'm a newbie at all this,... any help/recommendations would be much appreciated

Need help in regards to putting wider tires on my 2023 Rubicon 4xe
Can someone take a moment to educate me about my options for this Jeep...

Current Stock Tire Specs: (H)33in x (W)11.5in
Current Stock Wheel/Rim Specs: 17"

My Desired Tire Specs: (H)35 x (W)12.5

Does a 33" x 12.5" wide tire exist ? (will it fit my existing 17" wheel/rim ?)

Do I need a Lift for tire larger than 33" ?
Can I use my original wheels (rims) for larger/wider tires ?

Yes, 33x12.50 tires exist.

A lift for bigger than 33 inches is recommended. Stuffing 35s on would result in rubbing and no clearance for flex.

You can use your OEM wheels for up to 35s, if you were going with 37s you would need an aftermarket rim with 3.5" backspacing.

In addition to creating clearance for the new tires, also make sure you think about your rear gearing to move the larger diameter tire without putting too much strain on the drivetrain. Similarly, larger tires are harder to stop, giving some thought to brakes likely a good idea.

Consistent with Bill's comments, be sure to consider the tire's weight. It's unsprung weight that is so impactful to your acceleration/braking. For example, stock Rubicon 33s weigh 51 lbs, while porkier Nitto Grappler 35s are 80 lbs - huge difference.

Your Jeep looks lifted already. Did you buy it used? It looks like someone had 35s on it, then swapped on a set of Gladiator Willys wheels and tires when it was traded/sold.

35s, either 315/70/17s or 35x12.50/17s should fit without issue. 315s are about 1/2" wider, 35s are anywhere from .1-.5" taller. Very few 35" tires on the market are actually 35" tall.

Yes, you can use those wheels for 35s, people do it all the time. You will need to get a spare tire relocation bracket though.

The picture of the spare tire looks like a 35 because of the way it covers part of the third brake light and rests on the bumper. Also, I agree with Cowboy, looks like it has a 2” lift. Did you verify your actual tire size on the sidewalls?

Hey Thanks for all the input from everyone

I think I've decided do... 33" x 12.50 R17 LT BFG Tire, and Method 305 NV Wheels

I can acheive a bit wider tire and thus avoiding doing a lift (right now)

Thoughts ?

Like I said, it looks like you already have a lift. Read all of the comments to your thread.

Not sure if your decision is being driven by a desire for new rims, new wider tires, wheeling capabilities, aesthetics, etc. I personally would not drop $2k on new tires just to go ~1” wider, unless I lived in the sand. This may not be money well spent if the ultimate goal is to move to 35’s. I’d also check the 4xe sub forum for their advice as well. Fellow owners of Rubi 4xe‘s can provide their real world experiences and feedback on the limitations of wheeling on 35’s. Good luck!

Just go to 35s. You’ll run the 33s for a few months and then swap anyways. You’re already doing it. Just leave the 33s you have on.
You have plenty of room to fit 35s and look into getting a C rated tire. They’re lighter than most the 35s some run on here and not much heavier than some 33s.

So, I forgot to mention,... I am Leasing my Jeep
That is the reason I'm not jumping to 35's, because
I was told that at end of my lease, I would be responsible for returning the vehicle to it's original state.
If at the end of lease I decide to purchase it, then I'll probably do the lift and add 35's
So, I'm staying at 33"

Also, in regards to whether my Jeep is already lifted,..
I had someone look at it, and confirmed the jeep is NOT currently lifted

Thanks
