Yeah, gonna go pick up a battery.

So I did some research/youtubing on the aux bypass and can see that I can pull fuse 42 and just remove the ground off the main post of the battery.

Does that sound right?

If you go to a single 850 CCA AGM battery-don't get freaked out when a lot of stuff quit working-as it will take awhile for the computer system to reboot the memories. You can buy a decent start stop by-pass an Amazon for around $35.00

Ah okay good to know. Luckily my jeep is barebones. No power locks, no power windows, and the basic little radio. But idk if that plays a factor or not.

Before I left for the store to grab a battery, I tested the bypass and it worked. Pulled fuse 42 and disconnected/wrapped up the thin cable to ground.
Just pulled battery and heading to the store.

When you bypass the aux, make sure you wrap the bare end of the disconnected ground, either with electrical tape or shrink wrap.

The largest battery that will fit for the main is an H7 94R, I suggest you use that instead of the H6 48 that it came with.

Is it the OEM battery? If so, I'm going to go ahead and say yeah, it's probably a bad battery. Would recommend getting a high quality AGM battery to replace it. I preemptively replaced my OEM battery only a few weeks after I bought my new Jeep because I have heard so many horror stories about how bad they are. I didn't really feel like spending $500 for the Odyssey battery everyone recommends, so I went with this one from my local Batteries Plus store and it's been great:

That's the exact battery I bought when mine went bad, I hope you have better luck than I have with mine. This summer heat has eaten it up.... it started failing me at 9 months in and Batteries Plus policy is to not replace unless they keep it for 24 hrs and it fails their tests, which mine evidently passed.....so now I'm stuck putting it on the trickle charger if I don't plan to drive it for more than two days....just waiting for it to start failing to take a charge so I can warranty it out and have better luck with the next one...

JL batteries are generally 2 year batteries, especially if you're not driving much every day. It's almost certainly ready for replacement.
Their batteries are junk

Is there a guide on bypassing it? And do I need the start stop eliminator to bypass? I would much rather just get rid of it/bypass it rather than replace it
Here’s my advice as a fellow 2.0 owner:

1) Replace your main battery
2) Remove Fuse F42
3) Remove and discard the auxiliary battery (recycle preferably), cap off and tape the terminal ends
4) Zip tie the detached auxiliary cables to prevent movement, chaffing.
5) Install an Auto Start/Stop Eliminator (Plug & Play)
6) Brag to your buddies about not needing to leave your Jeep on a battery maintainer if you’re gone a week but carry your jumper cables so you can smugly jumpstart them for free beer…..

The auxiliary battery has a sketchy history in discharging itself and main batteries. It is infamous for leaving people stranded and making the dash twinkle like a Christmas tree when it’s wants attention.

Rather than expose a brand new battery to such treachery and debauchery, eliminate all that needless bling and protect your reliability.

NOTE: Although this exact same countermeasure can be applied to the 6 bangers, it won’t make them as sexy. Sorry guys!

Respects

I'm sure I just got a dud battery.....if I had an extra $250 laying around I'd just get a new one from a different manufacturer, but two kids in college and a wicked beer habit have me riding this one til it dies and I can replace via warranty so it's not quite as expensive, as I don't believe it's gonna make it much longer but still has 3 years of warranty time left....
