The most amazing part of this story is that there is still a Galaga arcade game in existence.I recently backed into a Galaga arcade game at low speed. (Thought I was in Park, let off the brake, but was actually in Reverse.) The rubber on the camera's mount is what managed to touch the arcade game... enough so that it tipped the game back just enough to then strike the Jeep's camera element. The result? There was a dark ring within the center of my rear view camera's on-screen image. (The arcade game was fine.) I figured I smudged some dark paint on the lens, but no. The angle created by the situation was just enough that the glass bubble lens chipped off the absolutely tiniest piece of glass. You wouldn't have noticed it unless you were studying the lens bubble in some detail.
I tell you this story to suggest that you've probably got to study the glass lens itself in near-microscopic detail for any imperfections on the surface or inside the glass bubble. Me? I took it to the dealer and told them exactly what happened. They said they talked to Jeep, and no, they did not cover my situation. I went ahead and repaired it out-of-pocket.
