Just purchased 2021 JLUR and absolutely love it. My daughter hates the backseat. Specifically the seat and the seatbelt. The rear seat is split in two and isn't flat across. Rather, the smaller driver side seat drops slightly so when she's sitting it feels weird because she isn't sitting on one flat surface. Is this normal? Any solutions?

Also, the buckle on this same side has an elastic band that pulls it so far in that she's sitting on it. I can't see why this elastic is necessary. Can I just cut it out so she can push the buckle over more? It seems so strange how it's positioned.

The smaller seat portion of the rear seat (behind the driver) in mine doesn't drop and is level with the rest of the rear seat. How old is your daughter? I have 3 teenagers and the don't complain about the rear seat or belts. However they do prefer the multi rear rows of seats in my wife's SUV just so they can spread out...

She's 9 and very short. I will have to sit in it myself to see (not sure why I haven't down this already!). But just moving my hand over it and it is definitely not level.

Maybe because her feet don't reach the floor, the seat drops some? IDK...

The horizontal surface of the 40% seat (i.e., the one behind the driver) is level with the 60% seat in my JLU. Perhaps yours has a manufacturing variance that merits additional investigation?

The elastic band serves as a keeper for the 40% seatbelt buckle, so that it doesn't foul movement of the 60% seatback when that side is folded down. There's no apparent harm in cutting the elastic; just move the buckle out of the way as circumstances require.

I also have a 2021 JLUR and my back seats are also not level.. I wasn’t sure if this was normal or a defect but I now know from the above comments that the seats should be level. I will investigate tomorrow to see if I’m able to deduce what is causing the difference in height between the two seats.

I’ve also removed the band because it was too far on the seat itself and everyone would sit on it and it would also be uncomfortable to buckle. It is only there to retain itself above the seat when the seats are folded up and down but serves no other purpose.
