Hello All,

I recently purchased a Meyer HomePlow for my 2024 JLU Willys 6MT. It's been working great so far, but I'd like to hard-wire the functionality into my currently unused aux buttons. The plow uses an electrical actuator for lift/drop and not a hydraulic unit. There is no controllable left/right blade movement. The lift/drop is controlled by a wireless fob. The standard wiring goes from the battery to the transmitter receiver to the plow.

The circled part is the wireless receiver that the fobs transmits lift/drop signal to. Here is the plug diagram:

My question is: Can I run the main power to a 40 amp aux button in "latch" mode to turn the power off/on, and a 15a button each for lift and drop in "momentary" mode? That way the 40 amp would also serve as a cutoff for power to the plow and the lift/drop buttons would only work while the 40 amp power button is on.

Thanks!

its going to depend easiest way would be to try it. Do you know if it is a 12v single?

Correct, just a 12v linear actuator, this is the part - https://www.centralparts.com/product/electric-actuator-22887. I just don't want to fry anything.

Thanks for your reply.
assuming I am reading you post correctly and your just trying to skip the fob receiver at worst you blow the 15 amp fuse in your jeep if the actuator pulls to much current. You could Put and amp meter to it when its running normally to see what the draw is. Put a sand bag on the plow and lift it under load and that should give you and idea of how much current you are pulling.

To turn plow power on and off, connect an Aux Switch to a relay/contactor that interrupts the positive or negative actuator wire at the battery.

Using Aux Switches for lift/drop is more tricky because it likely requires switching polarity to the actuator. The Aux Switches would need to be set up so they can't both operate the actuator at the same time.

It looks like the Meyer HomePlow is 60 Amps, so it should be powered from the battery, not an Aux Switch.

A possible solution for the 3 Aux Switches setup (assuming the actuator operates based on polarity):

Aux Switches 1 and 2 are connected to 60+ Amp N/O (normally open) SPDT (single pole double throw) relays. Aux 3 is connected to a 60+ Amp DPDT (double pole double throw) relay.

Aux 1 latches to connect the battery. Aux 2 momentarily closes its relay to power the actuator. Aux 3 momentarily closes its relay to power the actuator in reverse (enabling Aux 2 simultaneously has no effect).

I pulled the base DPDT relay image off the web, but it's actually better to flip the DPDT relay connections and put the Y positive/negative wiring on the battery side - it'd be a must if using 2 separate relays instead of a single DPDT relay.

Thanks everyone for your help, I'll see how it goes. @THAW how did you find the 60A pull for the HomePlow? I couldn't find it anywhere.

I believe it is polarity-based, since the plow plug has only 2 pins.

I don't quite remember where I saw the reference to 60 Amps. To be honest, it might have been in an AI summary from a google search. It looks like some of the Meyer plows call for a minimum 60 Amp alternator.
