So, I've regeared the rear axle and the first test drive went great, no grind, no whine, smooth accels and decels. During test drive after the first half mile, my auto stop start threw an error, gear display blanked and the reverse cam doesn't go on. Restart the Jeep everything works great for the first half mile and repeat. I didn't change the axle ratio for the first drive, on the second drive I used JScan to change the ratio, same issue.

1) I only did one axle first to make sure I didn't screw something up before digging into the front. I do know that if I drop it into 4 it'll bind up like crazy and possibly make a big mess. I plan on pulling the front driveshaft until I have time to do the front axle.

2) I only assume that for some reason the Jeep doesn't know it is in reverse which is why the camera isn't coming on. It can't be something physical because when I restart, all is well again.

... any thoughts y'all, thanks! #JeepLife

Given that you've only regeared one axle, I would not be surprised if the computer is freaking out over conflicting sensor data. I can't think of what sensors would show a discrepancy though. Conflicting wheel speed sensors could do that but the wheels should be spinning at an expected rate. Could be other sensors though.

All in all, differently geared axles is a weird and problematic config. I'd finish the regear before I troubleshoot this issue. It may very well go away once the regear is completed and the drive train makes sense again.

I'm not aware of any sensors that might be giving conflicting information that would cause this. The front axle has only wheel speed sensors and as long as they are on the same patch of earth as the rears and going in the same direction, there would be no conflicting information to any module.

I'm thinking it's more likely a battery issue.

Yeah, my batteries are original from March of 2021. I may go for the Aux delete and a new main battery. The Jeep sat for two weeks on stands as I found the time here and there to work the regear and learn. This issue may be just coincidental with and have nothing to do with the regear.

So.... I used my JSCAN app and it showed a P08A6 code in the advanced scan which I had to scan for while the engine was running and Auto Start Stop indication was displayed. I did a little research and I needed to perform an "M/V Relearn Procedure" which calibrates the engine speed to wheel speed ratios.

There is a Jeep service bulletin on it out there on the interwebs. Basically disconnect the entire negative battery post stack for a half hour, reconnect it and get into 6th gear between 40 and 80mph, keep a decent steady pressure on the accelerator for 20 seconds and voila done.
