Buses have three foot pedals on the floor for your left foot, left and right turn signals and high beams.

Fourth one throws up a Emergency Call Police sign.
So from the waist up you look like you’re casually driving the bus, but from the waist down you look like you’re auditioning for Riverdance? I am old enough to have driven trucks and vans with high beam foot switches. @813 Fabrication & Design makes a dead pedal with an option for a foot switch. I wish I had not already bought the Quadratec dead pedal before I saw theirs.

That’s cool! I had never seen that many switches before.

I have a 5.0 mustang and the auto dimming works way better than my Rubi lights. In the ford they stay on longer with less switching back and forth. The jeep makes it look like I am flashing oncoming traffic. Many times i just put the rubi lights to manual to prevent unnecessary flashing.

Yes that's why most bus drivers look like Ralph Kramden from the waist up, but are bona fide athletes from the waist down. 🙃🗽

Funny enough we had a fast talking Irish friend who was the best person for collecting money from guys for all sorts of charity stuff, whenever we busted his balls Riverdance had to be mentioned.....lol... 🕺🤣

If your old enough, you know cars use to come with the high beams button on the floor next to the pedals.
Yeah- just where it should be ! My first experience with the new fangled button on the turn signal stalk was with a new KW towed to me after a breakdown. I searched, stomped the floor, got flashed, and flipped off for 300 miles. When I reached my delivery a buddy walked over, pushed the dimmer button and had a good laugh at my expense.

Now get off my lawn 🙃

Bit o' word salad in the original post, but auto high beams never bothered me. I can work the brights myself, or have the car do it.

A helpful tip for avoiding blindness due to glare from oncoming headlights is to focus away and past the oncoming car, off to the right. Scan for shadows or movement in the glare out of your periphery, but don't stare at the lights.

We have a Bronco Sport and I agree that Ford has done a good job on this front. It is a blended shift from normal to high beam and back that is subtle. Most oncoming cars wouldn't even notice it is changing back and forth. Heck, I barely notice it.

It's the aftermarket light bars that are on seemly every other "rugged" vehicle that get my ire.
They should only be used when in a off road situation but people seem to want to get their moneys worth.

According to every car I follow or every car coming towards me, I have high beams on all the time with my factory LED lights.
This is 100% true. I even readjusted my other rig after the lift and tires. My beams were below the second panel on my garage door so I would consider that to be adequate. Leaving for work the other morning, I was still flashed by the local PD. I know the rig looks good, but she should just keep her shirt on, FYI…

Most likely you need to adjust your headlights' beam height, indeed.
My new '25 Rubi came out of the dealer, brand new with 1 foot shooting higher than needed...

For reference:
- Park 25' from the wall on the flat surface,
- Mark 36" high line on the wall,
- Adjust your low beams to about 2" below the line on the wall
(to compensate for future loads, tire pressure, towing...)
- Done...

How high is your garage second panel? Did you check the lights' cut off line height at 25' distance from the garage door?
There is a real difference between modern LED vehicles lights being just bright, or them pointing too high, as LEDs throw light much further than old halogen lights, therefore even an inch over the 36" measured at the distance of 25', with the LEDs will blind someone at the greater distance...

Love that you noted the 25' distance from garage door, this is an important factor and making sure you're on flat, level ground! If your driveway slopes, take some painters tape to the local shopping center where they unload 18-wheeler shipments. Behind Walmart is a popular headlight aiming destination in the South!
