Have an extended warranty by chance?
I got one primarily because I was concerned about the longevity of the emissions equipment. Guess what I recently discovered isn't covered by the extended warranty...

Yes I do have the extended warranty. Wow that's crazy I didn't know that wasn't covered... I wonder if they would honor engine / drivetrain warranty if I did some weight loss on the emissions equipment...

Well I guess I should restate - the DPF isn't covered. From my Maximum care 8yr/100,000 mile warranty literature:

I didn’t pay so I figured they got it paid under powertrain.

I got it back from the dealer. They said one of the glow plugs (cylinder 5) had gone bad. They replaced it under my warranty, but I did have to pay my $200 deductible. With labor it was ~$350 total, so I used the warranty a little bit. I also got the HPFP recall done finally, so all in all not a bad visit.

I do think my battery was partially causing issues too, because replacing that did make my water in fuel message go away. Probably time to replace my fuel filter though...

Interesting, at 68k I got the glow plugs warning and then the check engine light. I scanned the error and found that number 5 glow plugs was bad. Getting replaced Monday under extended warranty. I have a $100.00 deductible. Just got back from a week long trip to Colorado (black bear, engineer pass, cinnamon, yankee boy, imogine and other trails) with zero problems. The only part that was a pain was the 14 hour drive each way.
