I think the frames I have are soft-top specific, and they're just plastic, so I'm guessing it's fine either way. But, I've been wrong before. Except for the removal/re-installation time and the "where do I put them" question, is there a good reason (safety, they're holding on something I didn't notice, etc.) to always have the frames attached when doorless?
I think it looks good either way, but was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to remove them. I'll definitely do it for cleaning if I get ambitious + if I need to reattach the grab handles

No. They are only there to make the soft-top work. Structurally they are not needed. Lots of guys just hoist their hard top off and head out, with no frames at all.

That said, i've never seen anyone remove the frames and not the soft top itself. That's a bit weird.

I like the looks of yours with the frames removed. Being basically lazy, I have just folded the soft top back and taken the doors off this summer. Just might take those frames off today.

No. Were that the case, then hardtop owners would likely require the same supplement when the tops on their Jeeps are removed.

The plastic frames allow the doors to seal properly when on the vehicle.
