Doorless Hinge Mirrors

Hey guys,

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before but I am going fishing tomorrow and would like to take the doors off my JL. This is the first time I am attempting to drive door less and I do not have any hinge mirrors. I ordered a pair on amazon but they will not be here until next week.

My question is, I was browsing through the forum and saw a pretty good idea for DIY vent mirrors.

It seems like this would work perfectly fine but my question is if it is street legal. I am in New York City and it does not specify if the mirrors need to be on the outside or the inside of the car.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Round (or stock) Harley Mirrors are perfect, no shaking at all and the stem is just long enough to put the castle nut on it.
99% of people either throw them away or sell them cheap, like $10

Thanks. The only Harley mirrors I can find near me are these I found on Craigslist but i have no way to know if it will for the JL hinges

They will fit, without the washer though

Some states require the mirror to be on the outside of the vehicle. Check your laws.

I re-threaded mine to work with the factory door screws (allen head lock screws). I'm out on Long Island if you need help modifying those.

Every vehicle must be equipped with a mirror or other reflecting device, adjusted so the operator has a clear and full view of the road and conditions of traffic behind the vehicle. 1968 or newer models must have an adjustable left side- view mirror. All 1970 or newer models must be equipped with an adjustable interior mirror in addition to the required outside mirrors.

Looks like just the vent mirrors are a no go. Waiting on the Harley mirrors to get back to me.

Now that rethreading sound like a great idea!
Driving without mirrors sucks bad, I have some EAG tube doors with full sized mirrors coming Friday, now I can return the Harley mirrors.

First, I reduced the diameter of the threaded portion of the mirror where it bolts on, then I used a die to cut need threads that match the for nuts from Jeep.
