So hitting the brakes hard hurt the vehicle's feelings? I'm surprised the air bags didn't deploy just because. What a load of 21st century automotive crap. I hope you get it figured out.

Yes.Imagine this, you are driving your wife to her hospital night shift, because essential workers must come in to work during the storm and you of course chose to take your extremely capable rig to handle the task.
On the way back from the hospital, when the ice rain and 40mph wind gusts are at their fiercest, your car decides to give you a check engine light. It then tells you “Service Electronic Stability Control”, and it refuses to shift out of gear and stays stuck in D5, even when coming to a halt.
Any thoughts/ideas what could be causing this?
You should consider turning it lock to lock on dirt or gravel. Then, of course, straighten the wheel.Has happened to me twice, and after installing a lift. In both cases after using 4LO, and playing in 4HI with ESC manually turned off. The warning light stayed on after getting back on the highway. In both cases the warning did not come on the next day. Pretty much isolated incidents. Somewhere I think I read the light might come on if your steering fluid is low, and the first time I added some. Steering wheel angle is an interesting concept. Mine is around 10 degrees counter clockwise; I sort of like it that way.
