I have a new ‘22 with autodim and tried to flip the mirror with no success. When trying to reassemble the unit I pullled down the post and the mirror to get a better look and there is a tag on the inside preventing it from being moved more than what jeep designed it for.

has anyone successfully flipped the mirror? I desperately was to raise it.

Flipped my '20 and my '22 with no problem. Twist the stalk counter clockwise a bit and it will come loose from the bracket, while holding the stalk turn the mirror around. It only wants to tun one way, can't remember which way, if you get resistance go the other way. Then reinstall into the ceiling bracket. I didn't bother with disconnecting the harness, long enough to do it without that. DO NOT try to separate at the ball pivot, you will hate life. Even with all of the nanny systems everything seems to work fine with it flipped. There are at least two sensors on the back of the mirror and at least one on the glass side.

thank you, I attempted this and my wife was freaking out that I broke it when both the stalk and the mirror separated at all joints. I kept telling her it’s just mechanical, if it was put togeather once it can a second time.

I had the mirrors electronics separated from the Jeep, the stalk separated from the Jeep and with the mirror and stalk in hand, we couldn’t get it to rotate over becuse of the tab in the ball socket.

I will read through these posts and make a second attempt at it and report back.

I have a 21 Jeep Wrangler JLUR 4xe with the Advanced Cruise Control & autodial mirror. This past weekend, I just flipped my autodim mirror. It helps a little bit with visibility for the driver when looking to the right at an intersection. Instead of trying to twist the mirror with the possibility of it dislocating off the mirror's ball joint junction, I uninstalled the mirror & the mount from the top hat.

For reference, I followed Carolina Metal Master's instructions for their Rearview Mirror Delete video:
(fast forward to 02:06 if you've already got the plastic trim cover removed from the windshield.

Once the mirror mount is off the top hat, it's very easy to flip the autodim mirror. Re-installing the mirror mount onto the top hat is a little tricky, since you can't really see what you're doing, but after reading the nuances of other people's experience with trying to re-insert the ball mount back into the mirror, my suggestion seems to be the path of least resistance.

Hope this information helps with everyone!

I followed your instructions in my 392 with ACC and it worked. I was very careful not to separate the ball from the socket and it took a little finesse but it worked.
