Does anyone know if there have been any updates to resolve the corroding hinge issues, either 2024 or prior model years? I havent seen too many complaints on newer MYs, but my buddy has a 2021 and hes seeing some bubbling up lately.

The late year model 23's and the 24's now have the zinc shims behind the hinges. That might help with the corroded hinge issues, but I doubt it is the solution to the hood, windshield frame and door rot issues.

I took a gamble and traded my freshly repaired 2020 in on a 24. Time will tell.

after I posted this I actually used the search and came across that zinc shim thing. Are they only putting it on the door hinges or the hood as well?

Good question. I just went out and looked at the hood & tailgate hinges and the gap between the hinges and body panels doesn't appear to be and wide as it is in the door hinges. ???

On my 2018 JLUR, the door hinges were the real problem, but there were a couple of small spots on the leading edge and bottom of the doors - no hinges involved. That makes me think the corrosion issue is more than just a galvanic action problem of dissimilar metals coming into contact.

I just got my 2018 JLU back from warrantee paint work. I agree, it is not just galvanic. My hood around the edges, three of the four door bottoms and the tailgate far from the hinge were all bubbling up. I got to say, the dealer did a great job. I can not tell that my Sting-Grey jeep has had any paint work done to it. I do some automotive painting as a hobby, so I think that I know what to look for.

My 2019 had door hinges and door repainted since the bottom of the doors had bubbling. That was last year. This year I have the dealer dong the same thing again along with the hood hinges, hood edges, swing gate hinges and bottom of doors. They did nine last before before the shims were a thing, but shims don't help the hood and door bottoms. I am waiting on hinges to be available and it has been 3 months. I know that in a year it will come back unless they are prepped properly by a good paint shop and maybe the shims are added to the hinges. It may be time to get rid of the Jeep after this next paint fix is complete! This is just complete crap on Jeeps part and many dealers don't want to deal with it or care.

Cmon man, it’s a Jeep thing, just do it already. Plan to swap the clutch day 1 and find corroding hinges before year 3 when you’re still making payments
