does the ProClip mount compress or leave a mark on the front edge of the dash?
On mine the pressure on the edge of the dash is very minimal/ slight.

I do not have the Pro-Clip secured with tape.

It is very secure without the tape and no tape allows me to move the Pro-Clip across the dash anytime I desire. For example when my gal pal wants to be the navigator.

Can tell you gal pal or not, I would not tape it down.

Anyway, I'd say an absolute no, in regard to marking or damage to the dash edge. Again, the clamp is not wedged down overly tight on the dash.

Terrific mount!

I left the tape on it because of the padding, but never removed the backing. Glad it is working out for you!

Made my own phone mount. Best part about it? I didn't have to spend a dime on it, it was made with things I already had.
• Tool box drawer liner
• 3M double sided tape
• Ram mount bases
• Long screws with washers
• Ram mount arms
• Ram mount X-grip
• Magnetic phone mount puck

I can just slap the phone onto the magnetic mount on the X-grip, or use the Grip for extra security on rough roads. The passenger side has the magnetic puck screwed to a Ram mount ball end, for the wife.

I had a vector bar in JK, but the JL version is very expensive. I think I like what you did here. Do you happen to have the part number for those bases?

I’ve also been wondering the through the ball mount version would work. Something like this. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005J43I56/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The base is a diamond ball base. I cut off one end and filed it smooth and painted it. I think the one you are suggesting might be a bit tricky. I guess you could figure something out if you knew how the hole in the shaft is designed. Maybe a long enough screw with the proper flat washer? Here's the link for the part on Amazon.

does the ProClip mount compress or leave a mark on the front edge of the dash?
This was my concern. I was afraid over time it would leave a mark. I ordered both the proclip and the 67 design mount, after having both in front of me I went with the 67 design setup for fear the proclip would leave a mark. I was not fond of trimming the rubber mat, but that part can easily be replaced for cheap and the ball can be removed if I ever change my mind.

One thing I hated about the 67 mount was the brushed silver metal disc that adheres to your phone. I installed it initially and couldn't stand how it looked on my all black phone case, so I ordered black metal replacement discs on amazon. 67 designs if your reading this, the disc does not have to be so thick, and no one wants your logo on it, AND make it black.

I just checked and still no mark on the dash. One would think if it was going to it would have done so by now.

Long term is my concern. I hope its a non issue, and I may still try it at some point.

@RELBUS

I have the Pro Clip and have no sign of any marks, impression or such on the dash. The contact pressure on the leather is very minimal.

I left the double sided tape in place, for lets say dash padding, but did not expose the adhesive so it is not adhered to the leather.

I move the Pro Clip left to right pretty often..

I have had many a smart phone mounts and can honestly say as far as I'm concerned the ProClip is thepic of the litter. Again, I am only using it for a smart phone.

I bought the $30 Pro Clip mount arm since it was the the sleekest of all the dash mount options in my opinion. I hate the cluttered look of those rail systems and all the arms/ball joints/etc. I like simple and clean. Instead of paying another $30 for the Pro Clip phone holder specific to my iPhone, I bought a magnetic plate from Amazon ($10) and attached it to the end of the Pro Clip arm:

Then I added some of those magnet plates behind the case of my iphone and everything works perfectly. It holds super tight and wireless charging still works flawlessly. Been on several bumpy trail runs with this setup and my phone has never fallen off the mount. I have the iPhone XS Max, which is big, so if you have a smaller phone it'll be even more secure.

I highly recommend this setup!
