I have read every single aux battery thread I could find and I still havent figured it out and I am at my wits end!
I wont go into too much detail, just straight into the problem.
I have a 2024 Wrangler Unlimited and the aux is causing the jeep to go dead now, I read these forums before buying the jeep so I unplugged the aux thinking that would cause the battery from draining my main but that didnt happen.
So based on other threads, I disconnected the aux and reconnected the ground to the negative terminal, removed fuse 42 and thought that would be it.
The jeep wont start like that, voltage on the car reads 8.5-9.5v even though the battery is really at 12.3v. Based on the thread I read here I though the first crank would fail, so I tried again, to no avail.
I went and grabbed a washer thinking maybe it didnt have enough of a connection to pull enough volts or amps, but that didnt work either.
This next time reversed the connections, the ground on the bottom of the battery terminal, and finessed the aux to be on top, bolted it down and the jeep turned on like normal.
Next I removed the aux and set it on the terminal (so just the ground was bolted to the terminal, the aux was touching it but not secured)
Again, the jeep turned on, no issue.
So while the car was running I removed the aux cable away from the battery and the jeep kept running, but after a short time the volts got wonky on the display. Oscillating from 13.5v to 14.8v while the jeep was running.
I turned it off and tried to turn it back on and got the same issue as when I first disconnected the aux.
So it appears my jeep wont start with the aux disconnected and I am losing my mind. The jeep goes dead in about 12 hours or so now so every time I turn it off I have to disconnect BOTH cables, or ill have to jump it.
Im assuming the voltage is low with the aux disconnected because it somehow thinks its supposed to be there or something, but I cant really figure out how that is or, how the heck Im supposed to get rid of the aux.
Any help would be super appreciated! I can elaborate as needed, but hopefully my post is straightforward.
