Hey guys! I’m new to the forum. Purchased my 18’ white wrangler JLU Sahara and did a mopar lift with 20 inch fuel wheels and 35’ tires. (I wish I had gone with 37’s....) I ended up removing the factory steps and adding amp steps. The idea of the amp step is great but man..... the bottom pinch weld is as hideous as can be. Anyone have any solutions for that??

Two easiest solutions I've found are:

1) Use black Plastidip. Clean the pinch weld from any dirt/debris. Wipe area down with some rubbing alcohol. Mask the body exposing the pinch weld with some blue painters tape and maybe some newspaper. Spray 3 or 4 coats letting them dry between each coats. The black will make the weld disappear and any overspray or mistakes are easy to fix. Total time 10 - 15 minutes per side.

2) Use a black electrical tape to cover the pinch weld. First clean the pinch weld from any dirt/debris. May take two long tape strips per side for complete coverage. This method is super easy and again your pinch weld will disappear. I guarantee nobody will notice you used black electrical tape and it should last a few years. Total time is about 5 minutes per side.

I've actually done both methods on my 2016 JK. In fact one side is Plastidipped and the other is taped. You cannot notice the difference unless you were actually looking hard at it. Nobody does...

Good luck!

I have the amp side steps also how did you do it so that when you remove your doors you're able to control your side steps to go up and down?

Black Vinyl wrap would work also.

For those who are considering the AMP Power Step, the XL model is SO MUCH nicer looking on the JL and completely covers the pinch-weld. It also provides a bit of protection (but these are not serious off-road steps in any version). Personally, I have them and love them.
