After having my JLUR for a few weeks, I wanted to share a short "review" of the sound system and what you might expect when getting yours.

First off, this system is one of the best stock stereos I have heard. Recently coming out of a 2015 Challenger, I can assure you this system is 100 times better and it is loud enough at 552 watts (12 channels) to give you an abundance of volume even at 85 mph and no top.

Unfortunately, that very nice sounding, loud system has a drawback that you may have to deal with, sooner rather than later, because, while Jeep did not skimp on the electronic components, they saved a few bucks and failed on preventing excessive vibration, most especially in the soundbar. Mine, for example, has developed a horrendous death rattle even at very subtle volumes when certain frequencies are played or distortion is present (Sirius low quality source).

To maintain the good sound, you may want to be prepared to pull out the soundbar and dampen it. I have not pulled mine off just yet, but I'm convinced the speaker wire is the culprit and will need to be tamed. It only took about two weeks for it to work loose it seems.

In summary, the sound quality (when using high quality source files) and volume are well above standard from what most would expect, but don't be surprised if you need to spend some cash and time on chasing down rattles and dampening them. For most Jeep owners, I don't expect that to be an issue and there are a couple nice videos on Youtube on how to get this done fairly easy.

I didn't get any rattle yet, but maybe it's not loud enough.

I dont have the upgraded sound system, but my soundbar does vibrate/buzz with certain frequencies and high volume, and it's not a blown speaker because if I grab the soundbar and kinda press my palm against it, it stops...I saw some people who stuffed theirs with poly fill and added other sound deadening, I plan on doing that soon. I haven't seen any videos on taking the JL sound bar out though, I'm guessing it's almost the same as the JK

Only 600 miles on mine, but zero vibration. It’s plenty loud, and I’m really impressed with how quickly it picks up source changes; e.g. when I plug in my phone CarPlay is ready almost instantly (takes forever on my 2016 GMC)

I also appreciate that it doesn’t automatically try to switch sources. For example, when I unplug my phone I hate when the GM will automatically switch to Bluetooth and resume playing. I unplugged it for a reason!

So, yeah, Alpine + UConnect is fantastic. And this is a Wrangler! Who’d have expected it to be so good?

I think the JL Premium audio is a bit better than the JK. However, I REALLY enjoyed the JK Premium floor sub. You could feel more bass and it gave the impression of a solid, deep sub. The JL sub is either underpowered or Im fooled since I can't feel it as much

*edit* I have noticed no rattles so far at 1,5k miles

I have the Alpine upgrade while my wife does not. For me, the biggest and most appreciated difference is the windshield. I definitely have the quieter interior in my car.

600 Miles so far on a JLUS with 5" Uconnect and Alpine speakers. First off I got to say the sound is light years ahead of the aftermarket system I had pieced together in my '08 JKUX, and what a difference 10 years makes. The tech in my JLUS is astounding. I love the Uconnect radio, however the dealer did not explain to me that if I would have went with the 7" Uconnect I would have gotten the color dash display, and not the B&W display, yes I feel cheated as I thought the color instrument display was only for Sahara's and Rubicons. So now I'm stuck with the B&W display, and the 5" base radio, which isn't terrible, but again I really, really wish I would have upgraded. The phone integration is nice, and the I can actually have a conversation on my phone with someone while driving down the highway at 65mph with the windows and top down, something I could not do in my JKUX even with the windows up and the hardtop on because of all the noise and rattles. I also have the Premium Soft Top and can't believe how quiet it is with the windows and top up. Again the JLUS is night and day different from my '08 JKUX. I would like to say, be sure you thoroughly know what options you want, and what your getting, and whether you can live with out an option or not, you don't want to end up like me staring at a B&W instrument display every-time you're drive thinking man, if I just would have known.

I've got the Alpine upgrade in my JLU and while it's a decent system, the Alpine system in my JKU sounded far better IMO. Tighter, cleaner bass, more differentiation in highs and lows, and overall better 'studio' sound. The JLU Alpine is decent, but it sounds hollow, and the bass is definitely NOT tight (I listen to progressive metal, harder rock). It's not lacking enough for me to start screwing around with it just yet, but it is definitely a step backwards (IMO) from my JKU's tighter, cleaner sounding alpine.
Love my JLU x10 over the JKU except for the stereo.

Sorry I question the premium sound I paid for was worth it. You can't separate speakers. Would like to boost speakers on roll bars and can't. It has good sound but I expected better coming from a 2015 Edge.

Not The Best Sound
I have a 2 Door Rubicon JL with a Hard Top and Headliner(Mopar)
I also have a 2019 Grand Cherokee with the Alpine Premium
The Stereo in the Rubicon is Horrible in comparison I expected way More Punch.I listen to Tidal and have the updated MQA account so the audio source doesn't get much better.
I am hoping with the start of this thread others will speak to speaker replacement ,Amps etc.
I want To Rock!

I also noticed a rattle, but mine was coming from the dash . I found a thread of a way to fix mine try to search and see if there’s a way to fix your issue . I only have one complaint about the sound system and that is the inability to dampen the subwoofer there’s no way to adjust the output.
