On my 3.6, a friend and I installed an ARB twin compressor under my driver seat. We no longer have space to work on our jeeps, so I went to my local 4x4 mechanic who says with the 4xe you can’t install under the seat. Does this seem right to you? Have you installed anywhere?

Battery is under the back seat, nothing changes under the passenger seat. Personally, if (s)he didn’t bother to look. I would take it as (s)he’s not interested in the job.

No - I have the ARB twin under my passenger seat in my 4xe. I used the Innovative AT Products bracket, and I’d do it again.
I"m getting ready to install my ARB and was wondering how you went about going through the firewall. Any hints or advice would be greatly appreciated

I went a little crazy and pulled the fuse box and all the trays under it, then cut the nipple off the existing grommet on the firewall and pulled the lines through from the inside with a bit of cable lube and a straightened coat hanger (I read horror stories about using a tool to push/pull through the big bundle above, did not want to chance breaking a wire in it).

It only took about 45 minutes to fish it, and it is super clean. I also couldn’t use the drain plugs because my Armorlite flooring uses them.

I think I’d do it the same way again, but might consider pulling a fused 4 gauge power wire through the drivers side plug (where the clutch is on a manual) and terminating that into a terminal block mounted behind the glove box since it is easy to fish behind the radio…just for the extra options.

There’s a few write ups on pulling the fuse box as it’s the method some have used to replace their auxiliary battery (though my 4xe doesn’t have that setup). There’s a chance you can do it all through the wheel well by pulling the fender on a non-4xe, but I had too much happening there as a coolant valve for the battery pack is right in the way.

I have the Armorlite flooring also. I kind of like your idea going through the drivers side. I pulled the fender on my 2018 JLUR to replace the aux battery and it was fairly easy, sounds like that isn't an option because of the coolant valve on our 4Xe. Thanks much for the info.
