Hello everyone. I'm considering purchasing my first Jeep and would like to hear from those more experienced with Jeeps. I will adapt it to pull behind a motorhome that has a 5,000lb limit.

It's a 2022 Rubicon 2 door with the V6 and 8 speed auto. It has 16,000 miles and an extended Mopar warranty until Jan 2030 which the owner says is transferable. MSRP was $50,345

Asking price is $38,500 without the roof top tent. If I delete the drawer system it's $37,500. The original owner has a list of options he's added:
  1. Factory Mopar Lift Kit 2” with Fox Shocks ($2500)
  2. Method 701 -17” Black Wheels ($1400)
  3. Mickey Thompson -35” -Baja Boss E rated AT Tires ($1796) 8000 miles.
  4. Redarc Tow Pro Package -2” receiver, electric brake controller. ($1196)
  5. ARB On board air compressor, JL-under seat mount All hoses and accessories included. ($688)
  6. Warn EVO VR 10 S Winch Synthetic line -Includes winch mount plate ($1639)
  7. Garvin Roof Rack ($1500)
  8. Weather Tech Floor liners ($141)
  9. MORE-Folding Hide a steps- both sides ($326)
  10. Removable step -door attachment ( 40)
  11. Cascadia Solar Hood Mount Panel 40 Watt ($375)
  12. Vector-E-Doc -Phone and I-pad dash mount ($320 )
  13. Fishbone Tail gate table w’ extension ($235)
  14. Front entry guards ($42 )
  15. SafeJack hyd. Jack w’ all accessories ($319)
  16. Warn Bull Bar ($178)
  17. KC FLEX ERA 4 - Dual-Light System ($781)
  18. Jeep Wrangler JL Auxiliary Switch Panel Kit Ă— 1 ($263)
  19. Magnaflow Cat Back Exhaust ($597)
  20. ARB DIff. Covers front and rear ($374)
  21. Custom Front Runner Drawer system with one drawer and built in Dometic CD -030dc Drawer Refrigerator And electric panel ($2193)
  22. Custom Professional Electrical install of Winch, Lights, Panel, Refer ($1843)
  23. Recovery gear- Yankum Ropes-Soft Shackles, Kinetic Rescue rope, Steel Bow shackles, Turning block and snatch rings. $475
  24. Trash bag-tire mount $75
  25. Interior roll bar bags for back windows $320
  26. Tire mount for steps or gas cans or Recovery boards included $ 420
  27. Shovel and axe with roll bar mount. $350
  28. A lot of camping geared accessories too many to list all included in price. All original equipment removed are included so Jeep can be returned to OE spec.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on this purchase?

A few thoughts from somebody that flat tows a lot. Pull all the equipment you are planning on taking and then go visit a Cat Scale to get a true weight. This will get you close to the true weight, make sure you have a full fuel tank. You also ill need to figure out how you are going to tow. You will probably need a base plate, tow bar (get an aluminum one), and a braking system. None of this will be inexpensive. While the seller has some nice equipment it does not seem like they took depreciation into account. Also have a trusted mechanic take a look at it, sometimes add-ons are not installed quite the correct way.

They're taking a massive loss on that gear. It starts in the neighborhood of 4,200 pounds, however, and that gear isn't exactly light.

As @dapipp said, take it to CAT scales when you test drive it.

I agree with your thoughts!

I ran some Google searches on the equipment the seller installed. As much as possible I went to the manufactures website to determine the weights. I won't be purchasing the tent or Dometic refer. Here's what I found out:
  • Wrangler Rubicon 2 Door: 4,200lbs
  • Warn Winch: +70lbs
  • Bumper Ends: +15lbs
  • Roof rack: +100lbs
  • Air Compressor: +20lbs
  • Mickey Thompson Baja Boss E 255/85 R17: 65lbs x4= 260lbs. Stock tires = 51.32lbs x4= 205.3lbs. Difference = +54.7lbs
  • Wheels: Method 701: 31.7lbs x4=126.8lbs Stock rims: 21.6lbsx4= 86.4lbs. Difference= +40.4lb
  • Solar panel: +5lbs
  • 2” Mopar lift: estimated +40lbs
    • ____________________
    • 4,406lbs
  • Remove Spare tire: -72.9lbs
  • Remove rear seat: 45lbs (guesstimate)
    • ________________________
    • 4,378lbs

It sounds like you've got plenty of wiggle room.

Note that the drawer system, if it's anything like Goose Gear's, is extremely heavy. Goose Gear's is shipped by semi on a pallet. I have the same fridge in mine and we use it lots, both on road and off.
