Vehicle is not factory equipped with tow package. I presently have a CURT brand light harness (4 pin) installed
I am looking for recommendations but prefer not adding the accessory package with the auxiliary buttons.

I wired in a Curt controller to my '19 JLU this spring. No tow package, just a Sport S. The toughest part was ID'ing the brake controller signal wire. Had to search through these forums and it seems most give up before completing it, or paying a professional. This was the one that helped me track it down - had to run a wire behind the center console/along the firewall to the passenger well.
The issue for me, after finding the dang wire, was that my splicer didn't actually cut through the coating, it just mashed it. So I had to de-splice, shave the coating off about 1/8", and re-splice very carefully.
The rest of the install was very by the book, following the instructions & a few YouTube videos for this adapter kit. I'd already installed the 4-pin myself, and the 7-pin adapter's worked great with it.

The simplest brake controller is a curt echo electronic unit with app on your phone. Have used for several years works great(wireless).

Do you have the factory tow package? I don’t and etrailer only listed for the factory equipped vehicle. Am I missing something that should be obvious?

Yes I have tow package and the wireless I have is for universal 7 pin. Curt might make one for 4 pin.

thank you for your reply. I don’t think I understand what this is. If you have the 7 pin already, why use this? I don’t want to tie into the vehicle wiring does this draw power from the hot point on the vehicle side of the harness and use inertia sensors to control rather than the brake wire?

So, I finally got the Mfg instructions to download and it makes sense to me now. I will have to install a powered 7 point, without the blue controller activated. The existing 4 pin will plug in for the rest of the inputs. I think this is the route I will take.
