I do not have the OEM switches. There is the accessory wiring bundle that has a few wires for the switches and then I believe 2 others ( i believe 1 is always hot and they other controlled by ignition) under the dash. Are the 2 wires not dedicated to switches "live" an able to be used for wiring something inside?

If your JL does not have Aux switches then you will not find the 6 wire Aux related bundle in the passenger side foot well or the 4 wire Aux related bundle in the engine compartment.

Thanks, I am now the moron my mother always warned me about. I hadn't even looked and I am at the office thinking about Jeep projects and this popped in to my head. Next time I need to look before I ask.

@Rustynail11

No ? is a stupid ? .. and no you are not a "moron". It's stupid not to ask a ? .....

By the way, if you need an always on or ignition switched 12v power in the cab of your JL, those both are available. If you need more info, ask away and I or someone else here will fill you in.

I am actually looking for a switched power source. Think I am going to be pulling the dash apart anyways so I will tap the 12v power outlet on the dash.

if you want an in front of the cab, 12v power source that is always ON (not ignition switched) for that you might want to consider the JL PowerPort Kit, made available by Cool Tech, LLC,

"This is a kit that takes less than 5 minutes to install and converts the cigarette lighter in the front of the Jeep to be powered on even when the Jeep is off."

Another way..

For an ignition switched or always on solution you can use the port that is in the back of your JL / inside driver's side. It can be set up either way. It's easy to run a 12v power wire from there to anywhere in the JL.

Also, especially if you have an automatic tranny JL, you can easily use a fuse tap on a fuse in the PDC (power distribution center) and run a switched or non switched from the PDC to inside the JL. Automatic tranny JL has a access hole with plastic removable plug tghat resides on the driver's side firewall where the clutch pedal would come through if the JL was a manual shift JL.

Maybe I am confused or maybe the year matters but on my 2022 TRX has a 3 slot fuse slot for the cig port so by moving the fuse over 1 slot, it can be always on or ign only. I did this for my rear cargo cig port on the 2024 Wrangler so I am assuming it can be done on the front too but I haven't checked. It is worth checking.

Regardless of the model year of the JL .....Fuse move to change from ignition on or on all the time or vice versa only is with the rear cargo area receptacle and not with cigarette lighter receptacle up front.

Well, if you Don’t have heated seats there are three ignition hot wires in the passenger footwell. You just have to tap into them.

mine had all the wires inside the pass foot well and engine bay. Even though I didn’t order mine without aux switches

when i placed my ordered for my 22 diesel Sahara , i didn't get it with aux switches, however inside the passenger footwell along with the passenger side fender sidewall there was wrapped wires, which indeed was the aux wiring, i did install the Mopar aux switches and fuse block myself this year. And once i installed it and pinned it all out, they became active ...

Thanks for mentioning this. Since 2018 no one here has posted they had the 2 Aux bundles and did not have factory Aux switches, regardless of the model year JL. I will place this info in my data bank.

Wonder whether the bundles were at all usable ... they were not. fused apparently.. before you did the Aux kit install? Hmmmm...
