Maybe not quite apples to apples here, but it's a consideration. With regards to water intrusion into the brake fluid and ABS, I mentioned as we dealt with this problem in flight hydraulics for the CH-47D to the point were the corrosion manifested itself in upper dual boost actuators. Water count was in the parts per million (ppm) as discovered by Boeing after an Alaska crash in the early 90's. It happened a second time around '95 or '96 and this time in our unit while stationed in Panama. The aircraft experienced uncommanded flight control inputs while at a hover. The crew landed and shut down the aircraft immediately. Boeing flew down and took the four actuators and hydraulic fluid samples. More water (ppm) in the hydraulic fluid.

Corrective action came with a hydraulic purifying machine that would remove the water. That process still continues today to ensure "dry" fluid and preventing internal corrosion.

So, with the Wrangler, it's not a single event like a creek crossing or a car wash. It's an over time thing, and I'd suspect the entry point is the reservoir, or internal condensation if an air pocket exists.

Maybe there is a Jeep tech that has a bad ABS module and able to disassemble for a close inspection of internals?

Side note: Interestingly they said if they locate the part at another dealership, that dealership isn’t required to sell them the part. 🤨
Wife has been with Auto/Ford for 30 years, been warranty administrator for ever. Hell yes!! they hold out! remember the...ugh..I think it was plastic lower intake manifolds for f150...

Over the years I have pulled "the card" for very rare instances, they will literally trade "low stock" to get what THIER customers want..its like high stakes poker.the trades are crazy like rare mustang hoods for transmissions and everything else. Crazy

They can check every dealer for parts, then the phone calls start..lol

So the use of aluminum, for wt. Loss (alot), added in the manufacturing of "condensation", that makes sense. Since aluminum spikes so much with ht/cool cycles, lots of moister, that combined.

Moister intrusion is real...

I will add this.....

In 1991 I preferred the Shithooks over the Blackhawk 😛

The one we had at the shop ended up getting bought back as we very clearly told the owner to retain a lawyer due to the shear incompetence on display here. Jeep cares was just dicking them around.

Hitching a ride...🍺cheers

M1 operator! Way cool!

The M1 uses the basic L-714 engine as the Chinook.

I have a 2015 Sport Unlimited and replaced 3 tire speed sensors and the ABS module in July 2023. In January 2025, the ABS module again showed it needed to be replaced but, part was unavailable to order. Now I've been working with the dealership in South Carolina to have it done as warranty, since it failed during the warranty period but, they can't figure out how to get it covered by Jeep because technically, now that you can order the part, it comes back as over the 2 years, by a few days.I've been going back and forth with the dealership, the district manager and warranty person since early July. I'm going to be driving it back to Florida and hope they get it figured out by the time I come back in October. My dash shows ABS, Brake and traction lights and the cruise control stopped working on return trip in January.

I'm new here but if anyone needs a brand new in the box and module I have one. My jeep was at the dealer for 4mo waiting on one, I ended up taking it to a local shop that was able to get me a remanufactured one that can be programmed for $1200 but I had no choice so I bought it,....but before they put it in, they found a faulty ground wire that was the problem. Part was not returnable and in the meantime the new module came in at the dealer so I bought it as a back up Incase, but it's been a few months now with no issues, so I'm selling it now.

I'm planning on listing on eBay but thought I would try forums first.

Contact me if you need one....but it's not going to be cheap! They are very hard to find and I need to recoup the money I spent on them.

Im going to sell the brand new one and hang onto the rebuilt one as a back up.

Update the dealership has finally gotten the ok to replace this as warranty. Have to thank Zach at Myrtle Beach dealership for getting this worked out. Now just to wait for the part to arrive and get it repaired.

I'm imagining a day where people are stealing ABS units from driveways, like the catalytic thefts.

So are these back in stock?

There is a good abs repair shop in utah somewhere, forget thier name.
