When fully open, press the close button twice. Will stay open and fix radio.

Yes. Normal operation is the consensus. Some think do to the receivers and such but a lot think it’s due to the radio changing the ā€˜sound profile’ changing the base, highs, mids, etc. The way it sounds.

When you open the top all the way the radio actually changes the ā€˜sound profile’. To get it working better, do what the previous member said. Hit close twice to trick the radio to play the normal profile for better sound while top is open.

Well said! Also, should note this isn’t specific to the Sky One-Touch. The hard top also switches the audio profile when its harness is disconnected on removal.

Thank you to all of u that replied. I Thought something was wrong with my new Jeep and was going to get it looked at, but since this is normal I’m glad I didn’t waste my time taking it in to a dealer.

Does operating the sky one touch during normal travel deplete the EV range, or does it only draw on the 12-V system?

It uses the 12v to operate, but the power required is virtually nothing compared to the other systems that operate on the 12v.

Do you know if this profile change is defeated when using a pac amp pro for external amps and the 8.4 head unit?

I installed aftermarket speakers, amps, subs, dsp bit have only been running the software top during this time.

From what I’ve read, there is actually a hardware module somewhere (I believe in the CAN bus) that controls this behavior. I’d think that even if you replaced the audio system components, that module would still cause the audio profile change.

genuinely curious, who was like yes we need the audio to drop out so they can hear the sun roof closing. I swear someone was like hehe this will annoy people.

So it’s not just the audio dropping out that occurs. It also lowers the output of the subwoofer by around 50% and there are some other changes to the speaker output when the SOT is open or the hard top is removed.

Why is this done? Well, it’s standard practice on any convertible top vehicle to change the audio profile when the roof is open. Why though is it standard practice? Simple… Emergency vehicle sirens. When the roof is open, wind noise is compounded and when you add in full bass from a subwoofer and full power speakers, a vehicle driver has more difficulty hearing sirens from emergency vehicles. The audio changes help make that less of an issue.
