Which bags did you get? Besides Toolman's springs, I would be interested in what they are. Added a new LOD rear bumper/tire carrier and feel the weight in the back more.
I put in the Air Lift 1000 helper bags, after reading about another member‘s good results. I think they were 9” x 4” but not sure.

One nice side benefit is the ability to lightly level the tent if parked on uneven terrain. Dropping the pressure will lower rear almost 2” when fully laden.

Any idea how many inches are between your cargo mat and the shelf? I want this exact one but I have to fit an 18.5" cooler under it.
18.5 will just fit but scrape on the punched-out holes in bottom of tray.

I upgraded coolers, and mine is just a tiny bit taller than 18.5, and it scrapes. No chance with slide.

Rear tray will be for sale, lol

Nice setup! Let us know how you like those bags after testing for awhile. I had the air lift bags (P/N 60829) in my 2018 JLU Sport and loved them when loaded down for trips or towing the boat. When unloaded I always ran them between 5-10psi and never had any issues with them when flexing. Sold the Sport and got a 4XE Rubi and the bags from my Sport are way too short. Looking at getting new bags for the 4XE and was wondering what size to order. Figured needed to measure and just order the "universal" ones.

Hi folks,

I refuse to call this a ‘build’ since I didn’t build anything. ;)

The original plan was to secure a 4xe with Tow Package and build an off-road trailer. Unable to find one in a reasonable time, the focus shifted to a RTT after seeing a member‘s tent-equipped 4xe here, and a nicely-equipped 4xe [sans tow] dropped in my lap.

The Rhino Rack Backbone system was chosen for the combination of excellent engineering and great strength-to-weight for carrying the heavy Tuff Stuff Alpha Stealth aluminum hard-side RTT.

An Optima yellow-top replaced the Stellantis Crapshoot battery, as a failure in the woods would be sub-optimal.

A cargo tray and rear rollbar bags were added for first aid and lighting/electronics/comms storage.

A 5lb propane and Rotopax 2gal spare fuel got strapped to spare.

A 1000w inverter [2000w peak] was added, along with fuses on both ends, to take advantage of the large propulsion battery.

A 2” receiver hitch from Mopar was added, no wIring - strictly for e-bike rack.

Since this heavyweight was sagging a bit after bike rack, a set of 1000# helper airbags were placed in rear springs. They stay at about 10-15 psi with just the tent, 25-30 with full load and bikes. It‘s the best bang-for-buck mod yet. Check out location of Schrader valve…

I’m using bins and bags as “modules” for different needs, such as kitchen, hot water, recovery, tools, potable water, and Air Conditioning.

Where did you get your 5lb propane tank? I see them on Amazon but they are like $80 I think?

I pulled the shelf yesterday in order to fit a machine in the back. When it goes back in Monday, I’ll measure for you. It sounds close.

I like the simplicity and build quality of the tire mount, and was going to buy a lock for the propane tank and Rotopax, until my buddy correctly pointed out that anyone with a knife can ’liberate’ the entire setup. It‘s a glorified, and unarmored, ratchet strap. ;)
I had the same fear and opted for a super duty bike lock. Seriously it's as thick as the propane hoses. It would take a real determined thief to liberate my gear. Bike lock goes through propane tank and spare tire hub.

You only have the sinewave inverter and no additional battery right?
essentially the 4xe is able to manage the voltage on the main 12v battery and top it up as needed on demand? and do you have to keep the jeep in ACC throughout to make sure this is working right?

My understanding is the only way the 12v will be maintained by the high voltage battery is with the hood closed and ignition in the run position. This seems to be true for all plug in hybrid/full EV vehicles. Same concept for my wife's Mach E.

It's only when the vehicle is powered on do the main contacts close.

I guess powerbox is the better route then. It sucks that the cord is so thick that when sleeping inside the jeep, I might have to keep the rear window open. There is a lot of deer mouse around here that have gotten into vehicles and made a mess. I was wondering if the inverter route is better to keep everything inside.

I am going to try running a flat cable extension (rated for 15a) into the jeep and have to let the box stay out under the awning to prevent it from getting all rained on. Hopefully that still works and doesn't keep shorting or switching the power box off all the time.

Yeah it's one of the reasons the powerbox is such a nice feature to have. I wish my 2022 had it but alas I'm relying on external powerbank. I've upgraded my 12v to a H7 Duralast Platinum AGM in case I ever need it but I don't want to rely on it.

Have you had any issues with the weight on the roof? I thought our roofs weren't really intended to support any weight.

As another poster correctly stated, the 12v is only topped off in RUN position and hood closed.

The upgraded battery gives quite a bit more amp hours than the OEM unit, but I typically use the inverter for convenience items and light draw appliances. Fridge is usually powered by a Dometic PLB40 which is supplied by 12v outlet.

Zero issues so far with the Rhino Backbone unit besides wind noise.

The RTT is over 200lb and I weigh about 240lb.
