Just got back from my Montana trip with the 4XE. I ran over 1000 miles each way from NE to Montana with zero issues. Speed was 80mph much of the way there and back. Didn't mess with charging to get the little range it was capable of. Milage in winds and at 80 to 85 was around 15 mpg average. Much of it was up and down mountains. No issues since I have had it other than a squeaky door gasket that I siliconed and that went away. It did not burn any oil and this will be the 3rd oil change since I have had it. I do my own oil and filter changes. I will go longer on miles now since it has had a good break in.

Makes me feel better, just averaged in the 14s from Charlotte to Wyoming, those plains winds at speed were killer.

I'm sure, like me, you wish that tank held a few more gallons, lol.

Exactly. Few more gallons, I made lots of fuel stops. Even if it were just 5 gallons more it would make a world of difference. Honestly it works good for the short around town trips I do. I have a 392 XR coming and it will probably be worse lol. I don't do many long haul drive trips or I would trade for something with better milage maybe. I did get the rebate on this one, but not sure I would go 4XE again if I didn't. I want to keep the 392 and maybe will look at the new motor when it comes out and possibly go that route if I start doing lots of over the road stints. Have to weigh between that unit and the 4XE and crunch numbers as well as unnecessary wants and needs lol

Yeah, would be very hard to justify the 4xe with the rebate gone.

Three oil changes in 5000 miles? I thought PHEVs needed oil changes less often, not more?

I am not sure, but thought it was 10000 miles or one year, whichever is first or if the indicator states so, as in refresh mode. For the little it costs and on a new motor, I always do the same on any vehicle or motorcycle I have ever had. Then I go to longer durations of every 3500 to 4000 miles.
