I recently got stuck in some muddy waters with my 2019 Sport S and damaged my ABS Sensor. It was easily repaired and everything is working fine. But while my ABS Sensor was out, my SERV 4WD and TRACTION lights were also on. When I tried to shift into 4WD I got the display message of

4WD temporarily unavailable

here’s my question:

is the 4WD on the JL only available when ALL the electronics are working?

insight on this matter would greatly be appreciate. Thank you.

The front axle disconnect. The axle disconnect is decoupling the front passenger side axle shaft from the diff, the diff free spins and the front drive shaft will not be spinning in 2wd, this saves fuel.

The FAD is electronics. The transfer case is mechanical. you can make it all mechanical by deleting the FAD and toggle a no FAD setting with a scan tool to make the car treat it as a mechanical 4wd system.

I think wheels speed information from the abs sensor is what the system is concerned about. The system is worried that its going to grind the coupling mechanism. Could be other reasons too.

I've been fighting the same set of lights on my 22 Gladiator. 4wd works on mine, was in the snow with those warning lights, including 4wd not available and the 4wd system worked fine.

Maybe you lose some of the stuff, like the brake lock differential or offroad+, not really sure. I just treated it like an Old School 4wd, with no ABS or no traction control.

I have an appointment this Friday to hopefully get it fixed. Mine is only intermittent when it's wet out, dealer claims their as a TSB for just my situation. ?We'll see.?

My FAD went bad, so the front passenger wheel was dead. JL computer did not like this situation and just sent all the power to the rear wheels. You would think you would have 3 wheel drive but nope.

Can you imagine if the JLR had the Electronics of the TJR, it would be the best Jeep ever.
For my money, I'd go with the LJR. That extra room and wheelbase would be topnotch for my usage.

It least in my case, yes. Tested it by smashing the go pedal from a stop. The front tires had power, cause all 4 tires spun and threw snow. YMMV

I also had an LJR along with my TJR. I kept my LJR mostly stock and it go almost anywhere. But what I liked the most was Sleeping in it on trail runs. Take out pass front seat and rear seat and you have sleeping quarters. The 4.0 would idle all night long providing HOT or Cold air, and Sirrus radio would play tunes all night...

Moab, I did not attempt any 7+ trails, that was for my TJR, but my LJR was great the only thing I ever did to it was put on some GY MTR tires and it would non stop...

With JLs being so big and expensive now days I think there is enough space in the market to bring a smaller, simpler Wrangler to market. Just rename the current Wrangler to Cherokee (like it should be anyway) and then they can bring back a "proper" Wrangler.

I have sent a letter to Jeep asking for this:

JLR-B. Jeep JL Rubicon Builder

What do you get? Rubicon driveline and not a whole lot more, very few electrics, no carpets, its BARE BONES for those who want to BUILD IT and wheel it.

Few options would be:

AC/Heat

Radio

NOT much else

The 4wd still works with all these lights on, atleast for my JTRD.

He is probably in 4W Lo hence the warning lights.

Your FAD may be bad and you might always have the front passenger wheel engaged
