Twice this winter first thing in the morning when starting my 2018 JL Unlimited Sahara I’ve gotten the message on the dash “aux switches unavailable until battery charges”. This is a daily driver and I have start/stop disabled. It’s 3 ½ years old now. Is this a symptom of a failing battery? Thanks

Beginning of the end of your auxiliary and main batteries, I just went through it.

That's what I was afraid of. What did you do to replace the batteries?

The simple answer is the right one (my personal experience - others may differ).

It's your main battery - NOT the Aux battery. I got that message for a couple of weeks - then the battery died. I THOUGHT it was the Aux battery (that runs the start/stop function) but as soon as I put in the new DieHard - everything was fixed. Even the start/stop began functioning again (at the time I didn't realize it stopped, honestly).

Now, let's see what we can do about those GD lay/flat rear seat latches that keep breaking.

To be on the safe side I bit the bullet and replaced both batteries as a lesson for the future. I live in a rural area and was unable to find an aux compatible battery so I drove into town and got both batteries from my dealer. Interestingly, the parts person told me both batteries have a 3-yr warranty and if they fail, the battery will be replaced, i.e., no pro-rated credit. I've marked the 3-yr date on my calendar and intend to research a way to make it fail (don't tell anyone) to get a replacement.
