If you can post online links to each vehicle it would be helpful for us trying to give more insight.
That said, I have owned a 4 cyl. TJ before, right out of high school. I didn't keep it very long before I saved up enough money to to the 4.0L / 6 cyl. I personally wouldn't buy a 4 cyl. TJ ('97-'06).
For a JK ('07-'17) I would go for the 3.6 engine. I had it in my Jk, and bought it again in my JL.
Right now is a horrible time to buy a used car, hopefully you have one that you can get top dollar to offset the high prices!
