Have you ever seen any 3rd party half doors in white? I have a white 2-door JL, I'm not opposed to the Bestop fabric half doors, but I feel like they would look better in white and not black.

Seems like most 3rd party half doors are in black. Do they ever do them in another color?

I've been looking too (but for my JLU), and so far I found Motobilt and GenRight make aluminum half doors that can be painted whatever color you want.

GenRight has a photo of them painted on a Rubi:

Wow, a lot more options out there now, but looks like JCR did discontinue theirs. If I was looking, it'd be at the two Dave mentioned.

I'd 100% go aluminum. Any quality steel would be heavy!

This looks like the way to go - thank you!

Any idea why GenRight is cheaper than Motobilt? Which one did you pick?

Can you do fabric uppers with these?

I haven't decided on either yet. The Motobilts have a more solid dual wall construction, similar to the factory doors. Interior door panel with an inside release.

The GenRights have the option of a padded armrest and inside bags.

Neither have the option of an upper though. I think if you want that, you're probably stuck going with the Mopar half doors. Or you could possibly get the Bestop uppers and adapt them to work. That would probably be easier with the Motobilts, since you'd be able to open the door without reaching over.

Just a note, I'd expect both to take a good amount of body prep before spraying. Definitely don't expect to hit them with a rattle can and be decent.

Another option is stacking the bestop pieces. Shells on tube doors and their uppers.

Interesting! So you do the element doors + panels + fabric uppers for about $1.2k, and re-create the OEM doors.

I guess the only issue is that I have a white JL, and these are black.

Thank you!

You can PTM the shells. They come prepped and powder coated already, so should be minimal prep work to get a decent surface.

Also, when I was looking there are a few youtube video's of the setup. The bestop upper do not finish out as nice as the stock ones, so at least watch those to make sure you're good with the finished product. I'd expect the same with any door that uses the bestop upper.

Thanks - do you have any links to those youtube videos?

I've been eyeing several setups lately too, and I recently got to sit in a jeep with Genrights + their arm rest and wow... they are higher than just having your windows down. That is my one gripe with most aftermarket as well as the mopar doors, they do not seem to really lower the height of the door all that much especially for the $.

The element doors seem to be the lowest off the shelf door, but as Gator mentioned ive seen some pictures of the closeout and they do not look the best - the closeout doesn't appear very flush!
