I had no opportunity to flex much on my way in last night, and with Friday evening Summer traffic, we were nearly an hour arriving - just at 9pm sunset - so I drove directly to the camping area to set up the tent.

On the way to camp, I did not some strange "clunking" when passing over bumps in the road. I figured something I had changed or loosened was the cause, but it's the tie rod ?!? I noticed the steering wheel is a little off center, but what would cause it to have ÂĽ of vertical play. That's not a component I touched during the install.

After hiking 13 miles, climbing 4400ft elevation in 80F heat, & arriving back to the trailhead at 8pm, I was in no mood for checking the tire clearance. Probably a good thing given the tierod issue.

Looks like Sunday I get to work on the Jeep suspension & steering.

And if your ever on the East side of Mt Rainier looking for good hike, head up to Mt. Aix.
Tie rod rotational play is normal and was there before you made any changes. Adjusting the drag link will center the wheel, just loosen one nut and then rotate the silver collar in either direction. Good luck!

I have a 4xe with the Mopar 4xe lift. I ran the 35s from my JK for a month or more waiting for my 37s to arrive so I have experience with stock 33s no lift, 35s no lift, 35s and lift, 37s and lift. My 35s are Toyo MTs, 37s are Ridge Grapplers, something between AT and MT.

On Power/shift points/regearing, I am fairly happy as is. I have reprogrammed the vehicle with each tire change using my TaserJL(great product). I drove the 4xe to Tahoe from the Bay Area last week and while it would drop down to 6th up hills I always had power available and could shoot up to 80 on even the steepest grades. People that say the battery will fade are uninformed, Jeep prioritized torque over economy. The vehicle charges the battery using the gas engine between power surges. It is a magic machine with remarkable complexity that may have major problems someday because of that complexity but thus far it has been awesome. I seldom get 8th gear other than downhill or sometimes on flat. Regearing might restore some fuel economy and lower end torque but very drivable as is, particularly compared to my JK. In fact I now choose my 4xe over my wife’s Tesla for highway trips.

With my lift I will definitely rub front fenders off-road w 37s and 5” of backspacing. I am planning the liner delete kit from Metalcloak to gain enough clearance.

As others have said, 4” of lift on a JL is def 37 territory aesthetically over 35 IMO.
How were the 35's with no lift? I was looking at grabbing a set off a friend but not getting a lift for a couple months on my 4xe Sahara.

I have a Rubicon, it sits higher stock than a Sahara. But the 35's with no lift were great. Never did any rock crawling but no rubbing, nothing close. 35"x18"x12.5" Toyo MT. Wheels are XD Rockstar, I think 9" wide wheel w 5" of backspace. I'm sure the wheel and backspace matters for rubbing when you turn etc. I'd think depending on the wheel backspacing you would be fine on 35's in a Sahara.

Thanks! Had a slight change in plans... picking up a specizl set of take offs with 285/70r17s so, I wont be bumping up to a 35 for a while, but I'm excited about them!

You’ll need to regear if you want 8th on heavy 37’s. You might be ok with KO2’s
I get 8th with my 37s (ko2) all the time

I installed the 70772522 Mopar lift (netting 1" of lift) and also a set of small, light "37 inch" KO2's (about 35.25") with light wheels. My tire wheel combination is only 87.4 Lbs vs the Rubi's stock 76.8Lbs.

I don't feel much difference from stock with an unloaded vehicle, but will get a chance to test a bit more this weekend with a full load of people & gear driving some mountain passes & forest roads. Unloaded, it does seem to downshift more on the highway, but I've not reprogrammed for the larger tire diameter yet.

My small 37's and the Mopar lift seem a good match to me. Aesthetically, I think a 37 would be a minimum for a 4inch lift.

What kind of rims are those? And how much do they weigh?

Looks wise a 37 would be better than a 35 with a 4" lift imo. As far as power goes you'll likely need to regear the same as the 2.0 folks since once the extra torque from the electric motor cuts out you're in the same boat. I'd guess either way you're going to lose a bit of electric range since the tire/wheels will weigh more than stock.
The extra torque from the electric motor doesn't "cut out," it is always present, even when ready >1%
