I have a 2013 wrangler rubicon unlimited with a 3.5 AEV lift. I like the handling with 25 psi. Is that too low for highway driving? Will it cause excess tread wear?

Hmm… it’s a little on the lower end. I’d say 30 is safer!

You are definitely gripping the road at 25. But a chalk test would confirm that. On my 35s , 30 was the perfect pressure

25 is absolutely safe for the tires. As I've pointed out many times, a 35" x 12.5" tire is rated to carry 1875 pounds per tire at 25 PSI. Your Jeep weighs much less than 1875*4 or 7500 pounds.

How low tire pressure affects handling is a more complex question. It can make sharp turns less crisp, or affect how load shifts from side to side in sudden maneuvers. We really can't give you guidance there.

I did the chalk test several times and ended up at 26 psi. Never had an issue.

Hi,

I run that on my 35 12.50's Trxus MT. Only issues I have experienced is I do get a vibration at highway speeds that comes and goes, believe it's the sidewalls flexing and developing a harmonic.

I am running balancing beads in them so may not have the correct weight in them due to some blowing out seating the rim.

Regards,
Jim

Calculations put my Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac E-rated 35s at 30psi and they ride great on highway at that pressure. Off-road they are bone rattling at 30psi.

I've run several sets of 305/65-17 BFG KO2's @ 28psi on my JKU's...usually replace them around 60k miles. Currently running 28psi on 305/70-17 KO3's on my JLU, and so far, so good. Off road (beach or trail) I drop them to 18psi, and they do great....
