2024 Trunk modifications

Hi guys, I want to do some modifications to the trunk of my 2024 JLU and was wondering if anyone can help me with this. The back plastic pieces by the roll cage are different than they were in my 2021 JLU and raise up higher which is really annoying. Does anyone know what is underneath these panels? Can I just take them out? Do you think I can replace the plastic pieces with those of a 2023 or older, so they sit more flush like the previous years? I love my 2024 I just hate this part- its not working out how I need it to!!

Im trying to move my myTop from my 2021 JLU to my new 2024 and it is in the way!

Could always pull it off and look. Could be side crash stuff could just be a different piece of plastic.

Probably side impact air bags. Look for an identifying mark on the plastic panel.
