Well I just spent way too much for 4 kicker CS speakers with the proper needed equipment to attach to the factory setup only to have them sound crappier than the factory speakers.
Also I am now getting a low front speaker sound while isolating to just rear speakers. The shop said no chance of reverse polarity as the speakers are plug and play and no harness etc was needed. Question is if I purchase an Amp and sub will this make the factory Head unit sound any better or should I put back stock speakers? My JL has the basic Uconnect setup without amp or alpine speakers.

The unfortunate (or fortunate) truth is that you really only get value out of (definitely better than factory) speakers if you amplify them. Otherwise it’s a rather mild to no difference. Sub is optional depending on your preference and that would also have to be powered somehow.

that said, I would not rule out polarity as plenty of members have experienced that the factory cables are not always compliant with the wire charts and your best bet is to test the speakers at the wire.

Polarity 100% can be backwards. It's been seen many times that the Metra adapter is wrong for some people.
