Need your collective sage like advice
So I am a big believer it’s a Jeep it’s going to make noises, I’ll see if anything breaks. However, this one is bugging me.
Between 60-70 mph I am getting a dull repetitive droning noise. The best I can describe it is to think of the frequency of a flat tire at 20-30mph but not thumping just an oscillating droning hum. It’s not real loud but definitely noticeable and there is a slight vibration that can be felt through the floorboard. Almost dead on it starts at 60 and goes away at 70 and peaks in the middle.
First thought was front driveshaft, removed it drove it, still there. Drove it for a while, got under felt around axle, transfer case nothing was unusually hot. Tires seem fine and it doesn’t seem to be concentrated to any corner as far as I can tell.
2024 JLU 2.0L 16k miles, XR so factory FAD delete, stock 35”tires, AEV 2.5” lift + track bars, stock rear driveshaft. I did replace the front driveshaft about 700 miles ago with a 1350 due to blown Rzeppa seal. This issue only came up in the last 150 miles.
Logically it would seem something rotating is going into resonance at that speed not engine rpm. But that it’s unchanged with no front driveshaft really stumped me. Also. Its not specific to being under load. Run up to 70 let off the gas and it stays consistent passing back down through the speed range. My focus is on the front axle but maybe I am barking up the wrong tree. I really feel STLA screwed up this front drivetrain for any kind of lift with the FAD delete especially on the 2.0 where the engine transmission angle is so heavily biased downward towards the rear relative to vehicle position but I digress.
Appreciate any ideas on what to chase next.
