I’m moving on, waiting friends, but not before I post some pics and tell a little story.
On the morning of December 30, I ordered this Jeep. I’ve wanted a Wrangler for decades so this was my dream vehicle, and the first vehicle I’ve special ordered. It was dropped off at the dealership twelve weeks later.
A couple of hours after I placed the order, my stepmom, Betty, fell at home and was taken to the hospital. The next day, she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Ten weeks later, she left our world and joined Jesus.
I feel like I lived a lifetime in the twelve weeks since I ordered the Jeep. It’s still hard to believe she’s gone, even though I was by her side for so much of her rapid decline, attended and spoke at her memorial service, and watched them place her in the ground next to Daddy. The Jeep didn’t seem very important for most of the time I was waiting for it.
The Jeep arrived here late on Tuesday night and yesterday was cloudy and cold so it wasn’t really a top-down day. We made a few small mods, learned how to operate the top, set up the electronics, and so on.
But today! Today is a gorgeous spring Gulf Coast day. It’s warm but not hot and the sun is so bright you can’t stop your face from smiling. It really is a perfect Jeep day…
…and it’s also Betty’s birthday.
So we put the top down, drove around the county, and picked up some cake in honor of our BeBe.
