Based on what I have heard from Jeep insiders, the XR package is installed on the line.Agreed, it would not make sense for them to install the suspension system on the line, then send the vehicle to the body vendor to take the old suspension system off and replace it. The key word there is that it doesn't make sense, not they are not necessarily doing it.
I'm sure the speculation that it occurs at the body vendor helped justify people's frustration with wait times, but... all signs point to it being speculation.
Automotive manufacturers don't screw around with waste, either. They want the biggest bottom line possible, and they are all about cost cutting. They're run by corporations, not the government, after all.
