No. I sold my Hella for the Hydro and will sell my Hydro for the Earl, if I get it.
Just got the quotes back, FCA is fricken now charging $495 for colored paint. $695 for Punk'n.
That shit needs to stop. It's marketing genius, but it is bullcrap that will most likely be with us forever across all manufacturers.

I can picture that meeting now.

Millennial Intern "Hey, we should charge for any color besides White"
Entire board room full of senior executives laughing "Yeah, righttttt"
Two months later, entire board room, "Hey that worked great, people really are stupid. We should charge even more for "limited" colors."
Millennial Intern now VP of Marketing.
Stellantis (not FCA, anymore) is far from the first manufacturer to start charging for colored paint, and it's a practice that has been going on across the automotive industry for over a decade, at least. You should see what BMW charges for some of their individual paint colors.

Jeep has been charging for colored paint on the Wrangler since at least 2021... And prices have continued to go up because, inflation.

Also, you do realize the Zoomers (Gen-Z) are interns these days, and Millennials are pushing 40 now, right? I'm one of them. Kind of want to "okay boomer" you for this post.

Sounds like you've got a JL buying problem... boomer. ?

Yup we’re all getting older. Gen X here.

Somehow conclusions are quickly drawn to either Boomer or Millenial.
GenX or GenZ (today’s interns) fall between the cracks.

Boomer is both a generation and a mindset, if we are being honest.

And, somehow, it's always the Silent Generation, the Boomers, and the Early Gen-Xers (aka Late Boomers) that can't tell the difference between future generations, but that like to blame future generations the most, even though the Silent Generation and Boomers still have their death grips (and by death grips, I mean nearly dead grips) on the levers that control the country.

My parents are Silent Generation and Boomer... Most parents of Millennials are either Boomers or Gen-Xers and, humorously enough, it's the Boomers and Gen-Xers that do the most bitching about Millennials... even though they're the ones that raised us... Gotta love the hypocrisy.

Me, personally? I hate everyone equally.

I went out and tried to trace the paint thing back, and shit, it goes back a long way. It's still bullshit tho. :)

Porsche gives you a choice of 4 non metallic colors at no charge. If you want some glitter, pay $650 for metallic colors. Special colors (the ones that usually catch your eye) go for $2500.
Or Paint To Sample at $10k; pending approval of the factory.

Yes, we still get away cheap with the Wrangler. Europeans were always good with upcharges. Global ownership influences brought our domestic brands to do the same (for several years now).

And another question..
Cause I have many ?
Does the build sheet populate after the build is complete or while it enters production???

Well, the up-charge thing has roots in cost accounting... it takes more materials and labor to paint certain colors correctly... That being said, manufacturer greed has certainly played a role, especially with limited edition / high demand colors.

Generational complacency, parenting (or the potential lack there of) is an interesting topic, for another thread.

I do share your sentiment in your last sentence ?

That would be fine by me. That would mean its built. But no tracking says it is even though i got my build sheet off the build sheet site.
Remember, there are a lot of steps from E to KZ...

E is just framing... then it moves to paint (F), then trim (G) before it is considered "built"... but, even after it is "Built" there are quite a few steps before KZ...

Build:
E = framing
F = paint
G = trim

Built:
I = unit built, pending final inspection
J = vehicle passed final inspection but not released to carrier
JB = shipped to body vendor
JE = shipped to emissions
JJ = consigned to body vendor
JS = shipped to storage
KZ = released by plant and invoiced

The trackers only update for E, KZ, and KZM (first rail departure).

Sorry if this was posted somewhere else but what is the build sheet site? I have been using the 3 tracker sites and none have my build sheet but mine went into production on the 3rd.
