Stellantis (not FCA, anymore) is far from the first manufacturer to start charging for colored paint, and it's a practice that has been going on across the automotive industry for over a decade, at least. You should see what BMW charges for some of their individual paint colors.No. I sold my Hella for the Hydro and will sell my Hydro for the Earl, if I get it.
Just got the quotes back, FCA is fricken now charging $495 for colored paint. $695 for Punk'n.
That shit needs to stop. It's marketing genius, but it is bullcrap that will most likely be with us forever across all manufacturers.
I can picture that meeting now.
Millennial Intern "Hey, we should charge for any color besides White"
Entire board room full of senior executives laughing "Yeah, righttttt"
Two months later, entire board room, "Hey that worked great, people really are stupid. We should charge even more for "limited" colors."
Millennial Intern now VP of Marketing.
Jeep has been charging for colored paint on the Wrangler since at least 2021... And prices have continued to go up because, inflation.
Also, you do realize the Zoomers (Gen-Z) are interns these days, and Millennials are pushing 40 now, right? I'm one of them. Kind of want to "okay boomer" you for this post.
Sounds like you've got a JL buying problem... boomer. ?
