Just yesterday I was driving a friend to work about 3 miles away. Got there and a MIL came on along with traction control needs serviced. It was acting like it was in limp mode with almost no power or throttle response at all. I turned the motor off and waited a few seconds then turned it back on. The MIL was still there along with the service traction control message but it was not in limp mode and had throttle response back. Luckily just until I made it back home then back into limp mode. I have 8,600 miles on the jeep and it is a 6 speed manual transmission. The only thing that I've done to that related system you could say was I installed a throttle body spacer but that was about a year ago and never had any issues. I can't find an OEM TPS anywhere online and from everything I've researched it says that the sensor is located where the gas pedal is. I've ran my scanner on it and tried clearing the code but its a hard code that's stored and wont clear. The picture is what the scan tool showed. Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I do have a pedal commander and it’s been installed for probably 8 months already and haven’t had any issues yet. You thinking that might have done something?

What else do you have installed? Pedal commander?
Also just fyi I have a tazer as well but mainly it’s just for the reprogramming of tires, gears and disabled the start/stop. I don’t use it for anything else.

I hate them. It may or may not. Good luck trying to test it. Best bet is to remove it, and drive for a while without it. If problem reoccurs, start testing.

Yeah not really a big fan of it to be honest. But I think I figured out the issue fingers crossed. Even though I don’t have any issues with starting or anything related I think my main battery is about done for. I did have to replace that stupid aux battery about 6 months ago for something else that was happening. Main though appears to be original so give or take 5 years old. Did a load test on it and it’s just about done it looks like. So almost $600 later when I get the new battery in a few hours I’ll let you know.

Remember not to change modes while actively working/moving the gas pedal as you risk getting thrown into "limp mode" if you do. Then you will need to clear code to get out of limp mode.

I was a tester for Pedal Commander.... Pedal Commander gave me the Pedal Commander for free.. Just had to test for them with my JL and report back to them.

Anyway, I ran the Pedal Commander for well over a year and learned early on about how it could cause limp mode... but I learned to deal with it...

....................Then for whatever reason I started with issues / thrown codes same same as your JL and found out if I did not have the Pedal Commander in play I had no more of those codes thrown .

Long story short, I sold the Pedal Commander..

Well I’m a little confused here. Where did the $600 go?

That’s how much the dealership said the battery was for the same mopar battery and they didn’t even give a core discount. Anyways the dealership called and said that they were not getting the battery now and that it would be another week until they’d get it. I ended up going to Autozone and getting the same agm battery, just not “mopar” for $279 minus $22 for the core and had a $20 reward discount.

I’m actually thinking about selling it as well. I definitely notice a big difference in throttle response and get up even though you don’t get any extra HP. I think mine is set at City +1 and no I don’t switch modes while driving. I’ve messed with different settings but only changed it when I was stopped and not pressing the throttle. That setting for me felt the best so I never really changed it after that.

@C4PTA1N507

After my initial testing phase I settled in with one setting. I believe it was the same as the one you settled with. I left it at that setting and never changed... then months later had issues / codes and determined by process of elimination the cause was the Pedal Commander.

I really liked the Pedal Commander / what it did to throttle response until things went south.

Yeah for sure. Kinda feeling the same way about it. Not sure if there’s a return or warranty on it and if there is how long is it.
