2021 JLRU tailgate replacement?

Hey folks -

Someone smacked our Jeep today, our steel bumper took the brunt of it. However, I opened the tailgate to see that it has almost exploded.

Is this the right part?

I have attached a couple terrible pictures as we had to get to the hospital.

Was trying to find the mopar section - I'm guessing I'm going have to get this painted too?

Yes, you will have to get it painted. Sorry if I'm telling you things you already know, but, you'll need to know your paint code (can be found on door jamb) to ensure that the place you choose can paint it appropriately. They *should* know that, but, best to be able to ensure that you'll get the right product.

You'll also need to keep all the hardware from your old tailgate. The plaque on the tailgate with the Jeep dimensions etc can be removed drilling out the exisiting rivets, then you can rivet the plaque onto the new tailgate.

You can wrap your Torx bit in electrical tape or some type of tape to help avoid some paint marring while undoing the bolts that hold the tailgate to the hinge, but unfortunately some of the paint will crack.

Painting should be under 200 bucks if you find a local spot.

Seems like he was saying that he snapped a few pictures (possibly for insurance purposes) prior to heading out to the hospital. Then found time afterwards to research parts and post on the forum. No need to jump the guy.
