Hey All, I'm new to JLWF and, I've been doing some searching and I'm not having much luck finding the answers to a couple quick ordering questions:

Has anyone confirmed that, if I choose the 8 speed Auto with a JLU Rubicon, does it retain the 4:10 gear ratio? I haven't seen the option to add it back on like you could with the JKR.

And also, does choosing the Dual Top group automatically get you the premium soft top, or is that an additional cost?

Thanks!

Yes, a Rubicon with the 8sp transmission comes with 4.10 gears in the axles.

2 more questions.

Has anyone spoken to the dealership about upgrading to 35 tires (like trading the 33's towards).

What is snowball chance the rubicon standard rims are the solid black we saw on the yellow one at the show. Lol

Although I've not been able to find a definitive answer, I'm convinced I heard the Mopar guy at the LA auto show say that all Mopar options would be available direct from the factory, other than the lift. So you should be able to direct order the 35" tires installed, although probably not via the online configuration tool.

Via the online configurator, the standard rims on the Rubicon sure looked like they were all black, but I didn't dig around enough to be sure.

On the online tool I saw that, then i realized they were "greyed out" because they were selected. If you switch to the upgraded option tires the standards light up and are the silver spokes.

As for the 35s they were not a clickable listed add on when I ordered. My salesman said I would have to buy them after from the parts dept or from a tire shop myself.
I didn' think to ask him if the parts dept would give me like a credit towards 35s if I have them the 33s

Obviously a wholly unofficial answer, but I think your salesman is wrong...but I suspect it's going to be hard to find a salesman who actually knows how the Mopar aftermarket parts are able to be direct ordered with your purchase.

But, it was definitely pointed out during the auto show that you could bundle those parts in with your order and roll them into financing.

35' are not available from the factory. But the JL is able to "re-calibrate" for 35's. How this is done is still not clear (perhaps this is now known).
First thing I do with a new Jeep, is replace the wheels and tires. Both go on Craig's List. I price them to sell, not to get top dollar. Dealer may or may not give you a better price on the 33's than what you could get on Craig's List. Ask your dealer what they will give you.

Are you certain?

If you watch
, Roman says at the very beginning:

You can actually get Jeep performance parts for your new Wrangler and you can roll it into your payments.
Later, he asks Manny "Are you the guy who's going to cut that hole?" (obviously wrt the snorkel) and Manny replies:

...Or, through a production option we'll cut it for you and ship it with the snorkel attached
So Roman and Manny think at least some of these parts are available directly as add-ons from the factory. And they show off 35" tires during the same video.

Somewhere else, and it's driving me crazy I can't find it, a discussion was held where it was explicitly stated that the lift was one of the only options that could not be installed at the factory.

Does it prove anything? No. But the intent seems clear; whether or not it's executed upon, I have no idea.

I spoke tovtge parts dept today about upgrading to 35's.

He said they don' normally stock or sell 35 inch tires, but if I got him the exact size and brand I wanted he could check to see if they can be ordered...well duh. He also said they don' take trade ins, swap, or buy take off tires.

I called discount tire and they said if I buy 35's they would give me a small ($50-$60) trade for my 33's, because they would only be able to sell them as used tires.

Looks like best option is to just keep them as winter tires or sell them on good old craigslist.

Sell the 33's yourself. You can do better than $50-60! I am assuming they are giving you $50-60 for all 5. Get a price on new 33's and discount them to around 60-70% of new. I don't think you'll have them long.

I have a tire dealer that has great prices, so you need to make sure you set the price based on the lower priced tire dealers.

You are not going to be able to order these things from the factory. Unless there is a massive change, they want you to order at the dealership. Additionally, I mentioned it here somewhere but there is a internal system the techs use and they can re-calibrate your vehicle to 35's with it so the speedometer is correct.
