The dealer! I kept getting “no delivery scheduled” from 866 and dealer called the next morning. I was shocked!! Fingers crossed! Looking forward to your pictures!!
This Jeep has brought out the worst in me. Lol
I’m sure glad I got this off my bucket list because I will never do it again... I’ve been short with the reps and today I yelled at my dealer (in fairness he deserved it for not returning any of my emails or calls knowing I had a Cherokee to private sale before I picked up my Wrangler)
Just glad this is almost finished

I was about to call the 877 number for the hell of it, when I got an email from Nicole. For whatever reason I have two case numbers, one with Jeff and the other with Nicole. Anyways, her email states my build is this week (matches what Jeff sent me last week) and she will send me another update mid next week.

Seeing as we are mid week now should be anytime now! We will see.

I just noticed in all Rubicon pics and including mine that we all were shorted
1 standard equipment item. We were all excited to get our JL we did not
remember to check this.----------LOCKING lug nut on spare tire.

Oops, sorry about that!
Does anyone have a checklist when you pick up your jeep? There was one posted quite a while ago, but can’t find it.

Like you I ordered April 6th, went D1 on June 11 and POC estimates delivery is June 30.

However, even though I called and chatted several times to get an update (last week) haven't gotten any response other than the original on case number, weeks ago. Had to return a car on lease over the weekend, so now down one ride.

Great news, I was just notified by my dealer that my JL is in "G" status which I believe is trim status!

Still hopeful to take delivery by end of July which is/was my deadline to my dealer. Told him a few weeks back that if not received by end of July i will cancel and wait for 2019 model year.

Anyone had the dreaded "JL steering issues" with their 2 door yet? I'd be happy if 2 doors were somehow exempt from this
900 miles and all is well for me. I have been closely following both of those threads. Here’s my take:
  • “Please Watch” thread: A small number of steering boxes have a manufacturing defect. It’s bad and causes the wheel to momentarily lock while turning. At least one poster reports no trouble after getting a new steering box. Another got approval for a replacement box and is waiting. Rest of the thread is noise. Very low # of NHTSA complaints vs. number of JL’s on the road, but this reeks of a needed recall.
  • “Loose steering” thread: A larger group of folks than the “please watch” crowd are complaining there is a dead spot in the center of the wheel, and that holding a line requires a dangerous amount of steering correction. Plenty of the complaints are from JK (and earlier) owners, so there’s a real issue that some are experiencing. Again, reeks of a steering box recall. Unfortunately, I think this thread also has a lot of noisy newbs who don’t have any issue beyond, “it doesn’t steer like my Audi.”
No matter how you cut it, there seems to be an issue with the steering box on some units. I am expecting to see a recall, eventually.

Please test drive your rigs before signing the dotted line! Also, please don’t panic: I’d say *most* units are just fine, mine included.

Very well put! Like you I have been watching those threads and think there is something going on for a small amount of people and a hell of a lot of jumping on the bandwagon.

Been a long time since I drove a Jeep, and somewhow I doubt the JL will feel the same as a 72 Commando. Best thing to do is test drive it, but don't think about the issue too much or you will talk yourself into thinking there is a problem.

I figure after I take it home should an issue like loose steering start up I will have one of my Jeep friends at work drive it. From there I can go to a Jeep shop 3 miles from my house and pay a few bucks for them to drive it. If both come back with "OMG this is way wrong!" I go to dealer to have them fix it.

This is my first Jeep so I dont trust myself to be able to reliably know if theres something wrong or if its just a jeep thing. So I think for lots us this "test drive before you take delivery" thing isnt really going to work

Test driving before taking delivery is not so much about the Jeep, but car buying in general. I always take the vehicle for a 5 to 10 mile drive. Figure I would rather have stuff fly off or warning lights light up before I take it home.
