Really getting crappy taste for Jeep over this. I've posted on this thread as well as I ordered 1/22 for my 2 door. Waiting like all others...Mostly. Except now I have been shopping Jeep and other brands. Found a used 2017 Rubi 2 door loaded with 2,000 miles. Every bell and whistle possible, even 4.10 with automatic for $34,500, original MSRP of $45,000. But, it's white and I had a white 2012 and it was OK but was looking forward to a different color. My point being, I also get a Golden Ticket in email today that excludes JL's only, not JK's. My Golden Ticket three weeks ago excluded all Wranglers. So I have been shopping the lots for a new JK that excites me and the only thing that appeals to me slightly is an Altitude, but again, 3.21 gears and just a lot of make-up on a Sahara and what looks like a mesh of left over parts. I like Sahara's but have a hard time pulling the trigger on a new 18 JK even with say $5,000 off MSRP plus Golden ticket of $500, plus Tread Lightly of $400ish plus Bonus Drive of $500. I fear they may deep discount the JK's due to inventory saturation and really kill the resale value. I am also seeing a lot of JLU's stacking up on lots in my area. A bit concerning for such a "hot" commodity. Some dealers have dozens of various builds on lot.

Either way, given all of the problems I have read forum wide and Jeeps utter lack of communication and brand arrogance, I am cancelling or not taking delivery of my JL Rubi. Jeep doesn't deserve my $39,216 for it nor do I want to give it to them at this point. Like everyone else, I just wanted my 18 JL Rubi the way I ordered it when I was told it would be in plus or minus a week or two.

I am in between cars in anticipation of the scheduled delivery as told which would have been mid March ish. Thus my probably higher frustration level than some, and like most here, a Wrangler is the only thing that excites me within my budget.

Rant may be off topic and mods please move if it is. Thanks for listening!

also confirmed what we all already know jeep is pushing out the 4drs hard , because that's where the demand from the dealers is.
That, and the companion argument that FCA and dealers don’t push for 2drs because there’s little profit in them, makes no sense to me. It's a given that 2dr sales are a fraction of 4dr sales, but you meet your demand by adjusting production, which FCA does in their yearly runs. However, relative demand for the JL 2dr has to exceed that of the 4dr by now because none have been made for 5 months.

I'm not aware of any reason to believe that FCA has less margin on 2drs and every reason to believe their production costs are significantly lower to match their pricing. Material costs are less, supplier costs are less, and in the era of just-in-time production, parts shipping and inventory costs are lower than comparable 4dr components (larger, heavier tops as just one example). They run both models down the same line so there is no cost premium for a dedicated, lower-production, assembly line.

I'd argue JLU's are actually more price sensitive than 2dr JL's because first time Wrangler buyers are more likely drawn to the 4dr. There's much more competition in the 4dr SUV market and FCA has to price accordingly. In comparison, the 2dr appears to be more the realm of the enthusiast with no real competition. Buyers like me have much less ability to find alternatives so there's no reason for FCA to cater to me with reduced margins.

It makes more sense that quality issues, and not lack of demand, are behind the current delays. Since there is only one production line, there is a risk that quality issues showing up for 2drs could slow down the entire line. I can see FCA doing everything in their power to eliminate that risk by taking the time to ensure problems are solved before manufacturing begins.

Have you sat in a JLU yet? I highly recommend you find one and do so before canceling...trust me.

I have and drove one of the first JLU Rubis in my area. Great rig, I just don't need or want the 4 doors and out of my budget.

Sorry-didn’t mean to imply that you should get a 4 door-I’m with you in 2-door purgatory. I jusr meant the finishes on the JL or so much improved. Either way you end up going (JL or JK) you’ll end up with a great rig. Good luck Bro!

Well I called my salesman today , took a few hours for him to get back to me , which I don't mind cause he didn't give me some bs answer . told me when he checked the system he saw my order had not even started production yet. so he called jeep and was told what we all already know 2drs are not in production yet. also confirmed what we all already know jeep is pushing out the 4drs hard , because that's where the demand from the dealers is. jeep told him 2 drs will start next week or the week after. jeep told him I should still get my jeep with in 6-8 weeks , its been 4 so far so we will see.
He most likely meant 6 - 8 weeks from now.

This.

I ordered a pretty basic 2-Door on 2/13 and it's still in D status. Going on 35 days now with no movement.
Hey we ordered on the same day! We are JL brothers now.

I think having a bunch of kids, working in a manufacturing and heavily customer support field in a giant company has prepared me well for this.

My patience level is off the charts and my ability to deal with stupid is unparalleled. As long as my Jeep works well when I get it, the other stuff that comes with it doesn't phase me .

It would be nice if Jeep would issue an official statement on exactly what the problem is and keep us updated on when the 2 door build will begin. That would be the right thing to do!

No Doubt! Almost as though Jeep has told all of it's employees to keep quiet about it's problems or get fired. Thus, the 1 million plus excuses Jeep chat and Jeep cares are giving people. It's utter horses**t that Jeep doesn't put out a statement of apology and tell people, especially those that pre-ordered months ago what the problem really is. While I love wranglers, and want my 2 door, I'm not going to forget what a mess Jeep created with a first year model.

Am I missing something? Jeep build still doesn’t have the turbo available. Explain to me why the turbo would be the first 2 door configuration to be built? This reads like another uninformed rep with incorrect info from the inept halfwitts at FCA.
You have been able to order the turbo 4 from dealers for at least 2 weeks maybe longer. It's a higher profit margin so I'm not surprised it came first. Sucks but not surprised.

Most profit for dealers on the lot. So we are definitely behind the dealer lot production also. Only explanation I see

I think this point is absolutely key to me. Like most im pretty pissed, but you know, its okay... as long as my Jeep has no issues when i get it. If i get in that thing and i have issues like some ive read on the forum I will poo my pants

Oh if my Jeep has any issues I will probably go off the rails. Jeep will experience a level of crazy they won't know what hit them
