So I had my Jeep at the workshop to change both the timing belt and serpentine belt here about 1 month ago. (When changing the belts they need to dismantle the entire front end, meaning taking apart the cooling system.)
After 7 days while driving on the highway it started overheating. It reached 130C and the dash was flashing red. I stopped the car on the side of the road, and got a tow back to said workshop. After two days, they said they had a look at it, and that the fault was low coolant. Which seems odd, as I personally checked the coolant level, when I got the Jeep back from the shop.
Now, another 2 weeks later, the Jeep is starting to overheat randomly. It seems to start overheating when I am slowing down.
At one point it reached 108C and it didn't cool down after I stopped the car (engine running) but other times it seems to cool itself down when stopping. The coolant reaches above 100C just for a short trip to the store, and the fan kicks in at full speed often.
Last year we drove 11 000 km down to greece in the middle of summer. Doing some heavy off-roading and long days on the Autobahn, never had any problems with the Jeep overheating. The max temperature reached the entire adventure was 103C.
Anyone with any idea what it might be?
