I took the JL in for oil leak repairs. The tech said there’s a rod knock in the lower engine and that it will need a whole new lower block. The dealer is the process of tearing it down to find the point of failure. However, the engine is apparently on national back order. Could be months till I have my jeep again.

Did you hear anything before bringing it in for the oil leak? Rod knock is audible, you would be able to hear it. Hopefully the dealer isn't just trying to make some money off of you.

Well they know I have a warranty on it, but I’m not sure. I have heard ticking which I thought was normal for the engine. It got escalated to their manager so I will contact them on Monday for more info. It’s hard for me to understand how they know I need a new engine based on a noise.
