Bump.

Did my own change yesterday. Super easy.

5 qt Mobil 1 5w30 ($22 at my local walmarks)

Fram XG10060 ultra synthetic filter ($8) this filter is probably overkill and the cheaper equivalent size Fram would be fine with change intervals 5k or less.

Also recommend buying the largest oil pan possible to avoid a mess. This one was $9 on Amazon. Also has spout to make pouring back in an oil jug for recycling dropoff easy.
https://www.amazon.com/Hopkins-FloTool-11845MI-Gallon-Drain/dp/B000B917PW/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3BJXDVI3GICUX&keywords=hopkins+11845mi+flotool+5+gallon+open+top+drain+pan&qid=1562515733&s=automotive&sprefix=Hopkins+5+gallon,automotive,494&sr=1-1

And the factory filter was really tight and required this $3 wrench from walmart to remove.

Also recommend saving some cardboard and laying it under pan for extra spill protection.

I replaced my plug with this one to make future changes easier.
https://www.amazon.com/Fumoto-F-106...ocphy=9025290&hvtargid=pla-433747760090&psc=1

So in the future, total cost to do my own full synthetic change will be <$30. Once you get a routine will take less than 10 minutes. Old oil dumped back in the new oil jug and will be dropped off at an AutoZone next time Im near one.
Yeah it's easy. I used a Femco valve instead as prefer the double safety it offers over the Fumoto; plus much lower profile.

Also splurged on some Royal Purple filters as always have run them and have cut them open and they are much better manufactured with a lot more filtering surface area (much more pleats).

That's pretty impressive. I've always been a fan of mobile 1 full synthetic. However even though the Mobile 1 beats Amazon on the film strength by a very narrow margin, it also looked like that the Mobile 1 had more in the cup on the bearing test, while the others wheel was barely touching the oil, the Mobile 1 seemed to be further submerged. I'd like to see that test ran again. Either way, as close as that test was and being a fan of Mobile 1. I'm thinking of using the Amazon oil now. Especially at the price.
The tests that guy uses are interesting, but are not real world. The bearing wear test, for example, was used by Slick 50 in their advertising. It was debunked as not representative of the kind of wear seen in an engine. His heat test is very basic and only tests flow rate at moderate temps. Crank the temp down to 40 below or even lower and see what happens. Or, crank it up to high heat and see which oil breaks down and bursts into flames sooner.

Amazon basics is fine oil, but I wouldn't bet my turbo on that guy's tests.

Personally, I'd run Mobil 1 AP or EP in that turbo. If worried about FCA's MS3695, then I'd go with Pennzoil Platinum or Ultra Platinum. Others I'd look closely at include Valvoline FS or ME, Napa synthetic (which is Valvoline). I'd also look at Shell Rotella Gas Truck. There are others, but they aren't as readily available. Amazon and Supertech are fine, too, though. I just put them at a tier below the ones I listed. At 5k miles, any of them will do the job. Oh yeah, I'd also consider Quaker State Ultimate Durability. It looks like a very good value at about 19 bucks for a jug at Wally World. I'd mention Castrol, but I think it doesn't have MS6395. I'm not sure about it, though. Another is Havolne synthetic. That's a very good oil made by Chevron.

Lots of good high quality options out there. Just make sure it is SN+ and GM Dexos 1 Gen 2 rated, which is a far more stringent standard than Chrysler MS6395.

I run Mobil 1 EP 5w30 in my 15 passenger Ford Transit's 3.5 Ecoboost and it has done very well under high stress, which includes hauling lots of kids around in city driving conditions.

doing it every 6k miles now. First one was free at 3k miles, wanted to get their stuff out and switched over to what's above.
What does the dealer put in for your 4 free "Jeep Wave" oil changes?

I'd bet most would use either Pennzoil Gold or Pennzoil Platinum. Some dealers do their own thing, though. Either of those Pennzoils is excellent. I'm pretty sure Pennzoil Gold is the factory fill. Pennzoil Gold is a semi-synthetic, btw, but I think it is heavy on the synthetic base stock. Just a guess, but to get Dexos 1 Gen 2 or SN +, I think it requires more syn and less conventional.

I had my first free oil change/tire rotation at 5,000 miles, as part of the "Jeep Wave" program.
The oil is listed as 5 qts, p/n 5166241PC. 5W30.
Does anyone know if that is a full synthetic oil ? Not showing anything on a part number search. When I asked if it was a full synthetic, service manager said " it should be"...
I would like to know.. 2.0T "should" have full synthetic, I believe

Yeah it's full synthetic, it's just Penzoil Platinum with a Mopar part number.

The oil has to also be API SN+ rated, or you risk Low Speed Pre-Ignition. Fortunately, Pennzoil Platinum has that rating and is perfect for your engine. If you go anywhere else and another brand is used, make sure it has the SN+ rating and I'd also highly recommend GM's Dexos 1 Gen 2 rating, as well.

Not worried about "garbage", just wanted to know whether full synthetic, as dealers typically use Dino, synthetic blend, and full synthetic, depending on what the tech asks for...

I totally agree with you on the RP filters

I'm at 2200 miles now, I think I'll do my first oil change at 2500 miles before we head down to OBX for a week. Plus I can get the computer retuned for the 35s.

Which Femco valve did you use on your 2.0? Would you mind snapping a picture of it capped off so I can see how much it protrudes? I really appreciate it!

I'll get a picture in the next few days.... it is the M14-1.5 compact version. It sticks out 12mm so very short compared to the other valve people on here recommend.

I’ve been trying the AMSOIL signature in this and my Ecoboost Lincoln. Seems to be one of the best for preventing LSPI in Turbo vehicles. This will be the first change for my Jeep along with the AMSOIL filter.
